Project Title:
Creative Formal Living Room
Project Description:
Looking to find a creative idea for my "formal" living room. This area is right off of the foyer and is a space that guests will walk through to get to the kitchen and the main living room.
I don't want this room to be a standard sofa, table, chair grouping. I would like to see a creative space to enjoy a cup of coffee or to relax with my hookah. I don't typically entertain a large amount so the space doesn't have to including a lot of seating. I have a bar space in my kitchen so I don't need a large bar display. I need creative ideas on how to use the space to its full potential.

Additional comments to designers:
I have been working to update the house. Replaced the floors to the new light gray wood, painted all the walls white and have been getting quotes to re-paint the kitchen cabinets. I am okay with adding an accent wall of paint or stack stone but not sure where or of what color. Not the biggest fan of wallpaper so I would rather not go that route.
The room receives hardly any light because there is only one window in the room that I don't open too often since it looks into my neighbors home. I would like to brighten the room! There is one junction box in the ceiling and it is on the opposite side of the room than than the window and I am okay with possibly adding another to the window side of the room. I like lights that could be on a timer so it would automatically come on a certain times of the day.
I would like to stay away from Wayfair and pieces of furniture that I have to assemble. Screwing on legs or something small like that is fine but I do not want to take on the task of building a bookcase/cabinet/etc.
I love going to art galleries so beautiful art is appreciated in the home. I already have great pieces in other parts of my home but this area is a blank canvas. I like more of the abstract pieces, framed or gallery wrap and would like a more "one of a kind" look without the one of a kind price tag.
My style is Scandinavian design (minimal, clean lines, neutral base colors) with a touch of rustic design (natural woods, earth elements, textures). I don't mind color and welcome it (see the abstract artwork painting in my niche) but I do like neutral colors for the main pieces in the room. I would like them to be comfortable but I don't necessarily have to try out the upholstered pieces so using wholesale vendors is okay with me.

Since your room is smaller using a dark and rich color will make it feel cozy, warm, and lounge-like. Keeping your walls their existing paint colors and adding warm leather tones, dark drapery panels around the window and textured carpets.
For your main color throughout the room, we chose to use brown as it reminds us of nature and has a relaxing quality which is easy on the eye. Darker browns work well as base colors to contrast against the accent oranges + blues.
