Project Description

It is time to replace our Family Room furniture - it is our most lived in room and thus important for it to be functional but still "vocal point" to the home.

What do you currently dislike about the room?

Furniture is old (leather sofas - they lasted 10 years, I would like to keep similar because we have 2 kids under age 4 and two dogs) - honestly I don't know where to find good quality furniture. I am undecided about art above mantel - currently neutral - we were thinking of selling home so I didn't add color - but would be open to more color in art. undecided about chairs to use. side tables too high - I thought these would "wind" lower, but they don't and I think they are too high for sofa - although I love how much space they have, they probably take up too much space in room. I don't know how to make better use of shelves - they are functional but not a decor statement at the moment.

What pieces of existing furniture, lighting, art or accessories do you want to keep in the design?

I don't mind the silver and black lamp - open to keeping side tables, or coffee table but also open to change them if better alternatives.

I saw an art piece that I think could work - but difficult for me to envision size with room - it would be a big statement piece. Also saw a coffee table that is actually a kids playing desk but could provide storage for the inevitable toys that makes it into this room vs having to add baskets.

Living Room:

Using a light and pale color will enhance the light and the space in your room

For your main color, we chose to use whiteas it offers a fresh, clean, feel to the space. White colors are often a favorite for walls because they are light, neutral, and match most color schemes. They are known to make rooms feel more airy and spacious.

Use an eggshell finish paint which has a very light touch of shine (similar texture to an eggshell as implied by its name). This finish is very often used for walls and is more durable and easier to clean than matte finish.
