Transitional Glam Living Room Interior Design Ideas

Living room decorating and plan ideas.

Need new sofa and decorate the whole space.

Will need fireplace re-done. Sofa can spend around 1,700 to 2,300.

I like clean/comfortable. transitional. mid-century. little glam.

Might get cats or dog, but don't need to design too much around that.

Living room/dining room plan.

First priority is finding/purchasing a comfortable sofa. I would like to choose something that works with the full scheme.

I'll start with the sofa and inspirational rug/picture and over time will purchase the other pieces.

Things I love include velvet, tufting (velvet & tufting!), sofas with bench seating or 2 over 2 seating only. Swivel chairs. Swivel and rocking chair combo. Do not like big boxy sofas. I would love to have an American Leather recliner in the room so I can recline in front of the fire, but not sure if that will fit the aesthetic.

Love patterns and layers of textures and geometric shapes. I do not know how to define my style. The fireplace needs re-doing so please include some proposals. I am interested in painting the built ins or walpaper on the backing. I would love to paint the wood frames on the windows black but my husband would have a fit so they will have to stay as is!

The best comfy sofa (not too deep, but not too shallow) I have been able to find is at crate & barrel - Verano II slope arm sofa. I am concerned that it is too bulky (?) or maybe not dressy enough. Would love to hear an opinion.
