Entry area for my home. We are having new, hardwood stairs put in and need help with the baluster and newel selection, as well as a runner. We'd also like a dramatic chandelier, and some wallpaper, as well as furniture/décor suitable for an entry. All should work well with rooms already designed.

small, vertical space. Dated. Boring! This is the first space you see when you enter the house - we need drama!

What pieces of existing furniture, lighting, art or accessories do you want to keep in the design?:

New hickory flooring will replace existing oak, also hardwood will be installed on stairs and upper hallway. We are replacing stairway bannisters as well - need help selecting. Interior doors being replaced with stained 3-panel, inset doors. Also, would consider replacing front door. Would like to work the little chair pictured into the design, if it works. Chair measures 17"Wx16"Dx33"H.

Since your room gets plenty of sunlight your color options are quite broad.

For your main color, we chose to use brown as it reminds us of nature and has a relaxing quality which is easy on the eye. Lighter hues like tan and beige can match and unify most rooms.

Use an eggshell finish paint which has a very light touch of shine (similar texture to an eggshell as implied by its name). This finish is very often used for walls and is more durable and easier to clean than matte finish
