Project Title
Glamourous Living/Dining Transformation
Project Description
My family are moving into a new space, and we need help integrating a couple of key pieces of old furniture (we have two really distinctive side chairs) into the new space and need help with space planning ideas and furniture selections for the combined living and dining room. We will not be brining anything else with us. We are hoping to move in by early October. Plus i have a really picky husband who drives me crazy.

For design inspiration please check out the work of Mary Macdonald. We love her work!

What do you currently dislike about the room?
The green wall.

I am looking for creative solutions for book storage, functional space planning, and assistance with integrating two wingback grey/black/gold trim chairs into the new home. They have sentimental value to my husband and although not my first choice of decor, we would like to take them with us. We are open to re-upholstering them if not too expensive.
What pieces of existing furniture, lighting, art or accessories do you want to keep in the design?
Those two statement side chairs and anything else you think might work from the "existing" photos but definitely not necessary. We are willing to start fresh with everything else.

Mary McDonald style please!

Additional comments to designers
Since this space is very small, we need some thoughtful fabulous design to make an impact with the least amount of visual clutter from books.

We both decided that the style of Mary McDonald is what we are going for. I love the element of symmetry with minor asymmetry in her design. My husband likes a touch of chinoiserie.

I also like a glamorous style as well (I love the design of the Kong restaurant by Philip Stark in Paris) and interesting color combinations. So over everything grey and gold. Bleh!

Def need help bringing it in all together.

Combined Living/Dining:
Since your room is smaller using a dark and rich color will make it feel cozy, warm, and lounge-like

For your main color, we chose to use gray because it is neutral and seen as elegant and classy. It compliments many colors such as white, blue, and yellow and works well as part of a color scheme in any room.

Use a matte finish paint because it will be helpful in camouflaging those surface imperfections such as bumps and cracks as it does not reflect light. Just be careful because matte finish is more difficult to clean. You may also need to touch up scratches or marks by adding more of the same paint in the future.
