Project Description

My elderly mother is moving into a studio apartment in assisted living. We would like some help decorating the studio space and small kitchenette. She has a few items (prints, vases she painted herself, and a red clock) that are very dear to her. They aren't the most amazing pieces, but they have sentimental value and make her feel that she is somewhere familiar.

Her favorite color is red. She likes happy colors and simple furniture lines. We did the quiz, but it didn't quite reflect her style. Also, she is elderly so safety is important. Little clutter is a good idea.

It would be very nice to be able to fit a bed / sleeping area, a desk, and a small living area / conversation area in the studio space. The TV can only go on the wall on the left (when you're facing the window).

Studio:

The studio gets plenty of sunlight so your color options are quite broad. However because it is on the smaller side I would recommend using a light and pale color to enhance the light and the space in your room

For your ceiling color, we chose to use blue because it is calming, relaxing, and serene. It's reminiscent of blue skies and deep blue oceans. This color works well in bedrooms and can help turn Cammy's space into a soothing sanctuary.

Use a satin finish paint which has a bit more gloss than eggshell finish and is a little smoother. This finish is often used for windows, doors, trim, and ceilings,
