Project Description

We need help with our summer home in the Hamptons. The entire home is a gut renovation - so we are starting from scratch in every room. Since this is the largest room in the house, we would like this room to be inviting and have a wow factor. We want a transitional, effortless, light, beachy look for this space.

What do you currently dislike about the room?

we do not have a foyer or entryway in this house - you walk in the front door and are in this room - it is the room you walk through when you enter the house-it has a sloped ceiling also (and shows the upstairs)-

What pieces of existing furniture, lighting, art or accessories do you want to keep in the design?

we just had an electrician install overhead lights- and we still need to select the stone for the fireplace (that is going up to the ceiling)- we were thinking to do some sort of ledgestone in a lighter color - we are open to ideas on this- we also will be refinishing wood floors (to be dark brown)- but are open to put down area rugs if you think they help the space-

Living Room:

Since your room gets plenty of sunlight your color options are quite broad.

For your main color, we chose to use blue because it is calming, relaxing, and serene. It ris reminiscent of blue skies and deep blue oceans. This color works well in bedrooms and can help turn your space into a soothing sanctuary.

Use an eggshell finish paint which has a very light touch of shine (similar texture to an eggshell as implied by its name). This finish is very often used for walls and is more durable and easier to clean than matte finish
