The client certainly needed help with designing an open space living area consisting of a combined living and dining room. The place was filled with temporary furniture that they didn’t want to keep. However, a couple of new items were already ordered and on their way when designers took charge of the project. Their challenges included:

Contemporary Decor Living Room Inspiration
The client’s ideas and inspiration photos were clearly leaning towards contemporary modern style with refined living room ideas. What they were looking for was fresh, streamlined contemporary living room furniture and attractive decor to replace temporary pieces. At the same time, it should align well with the lamp and sofa they already purchased.
Contemporary Dining Room & Living Room Combo Concept
Following their industry leading practices, Decorilla then connected the client with two experienced interior designers. With the design brief in hand, each designer was able to provide an initial concept for the client to choose between. After an initial consultation and reviewing the proposed concepts, the client picked the solution defined by simple elegance, metallic accents, and a dash of glam, composed by Wanda P.
Working from the client’s inspiration images, Wanda noticed the ubiquitous brass accents. Finding the same motive repeated on the new floor lamp and even the new sectional, she decided to move in that direction, giving the contemporary style interior a touch of glam elegance.
Contemporary Style Living Room and Dining Room Result
In the contemporary dining room, the dark charcoal shade of kitchen cabinetry was combined with black accents for more visual depth. It also paired well with the cool metal tones of the fixtures. One of the inspirational images contained a geometrical contemporary dining table, which was also included in the design. To contrast its somewhat heavier visual weight, Wanda combined it with lightly scaled, brass-accent dining chairs, making a stylish contemporary dining table set.
Furthermore, the the kitchen island conveniently defines the areas of kitchen, dining, and living without cutting off the flow between the spaces. It also perfectly complemented the thick marble base and the sleek brass stem of the new floor lamp. With three perforated enamel bowls of light, the lamp was able to provide light to both areas.
Furthermore, versatile nesting coffee table allowed additional table space as needed, as well as tucking away for easy movement. Topped with shagreen pieces, it further elevated the glam factor of the contemporary style living room. Next to the sofa, a comfortable, spacious upholstered lounge chair provided additional seating along with some visual interest with its brass frame. The addition of an elegant media cabinet flanked by retro shaped bookcases rounded off the story, supplying additional storage as well as hiding unappealing electronic equipment.
