For your main color, we chose to use white/off-white as it offers a fresh, clean, feel to the space. White and off-white colors are often a favorite for walls because they are light, neutral, and match most color schemes. They are known to make rooms feel more airy and spacious.
Use an eggshell finish paint which has a very light touch of shine (similar texture to an eggshell as implied by its name). This finish is very often used for walls and is more durable and easier to clean than matte finish

I most dislike the cabinet color and the granite. The floor is a mess from years of large dog and wear and tear, definitely need a pet friendly solution. We have had the same furniture and draperies since we have moved here and other than possibly the dining table everything needs to be changed out. Please see notes on the staircase below.
Lastly, it's obviously an extreme A frame which has always been challenging. We added the dormer where the dining table is and love that. We have never been able to figure out how we could add any pictures or pieces to the walls due to the "A" so they have always been bare, but not sure it matters.

The only two pieces that I would keep in the room if possible is the Hubbardton Forge light shown below and the dining room table, if possible.

A couple of things to note: the front of the A frame with the glass faces the lake. The front faces west and we get extreme sunlight mid to late day in the summer;
however, there is a large Oak tree that helps. We have had numerous contractors and architects look at options for changing out or moving the staircase. Due to the "A" the only good option was to add another dormer and move the staircase out of the main entryway but this was cost prohibitive. You will notice the staircase interferes with movement in an out of the doors. The staircase is not in great condition (because parts of it are laminated and peeling). Not sure what to do that would be cost effective, if anything.
The cabinets are in good shape; however, they are cherry (which we should have never got due to the sunlight) and have taken on an harsh orange tone.
We have granite countertops which I have hated from day 1 and will be thrilled to change out.
