Relaxing Transitional Home & Outdoor Patio Design

Project Description:

I'm looking for help designing my new home as well as the back yard area.

I have an architectural background, but I no longer work in the industry. We will need clear visualization tools (i.e. renderings) to help my wife and children understand how the space will look.

Here's some design direction from the whole family -

Wife and myself: she is into Transitional and contemporary.
Son- Jonathan : 1st choice Modern (especially Bathroom). 2nd choice is Comtemporary.
Daughter - Fiona: 1st choice Modern and Contemporary like brother.

The project will most likely be split between 2 designers: one for the first floor and 1 for the 2nd floor.

3D renderings are not included in the following areas - kitchen, bathrooms and upstairs hall.

I have updated the budget for all furnishings to be between $50 - $70K, but please do not hesitate to give us the best options for furniture and decor. I don’t want to limit the creatively of the design based on budget.

I'm really interested in high-tech electrical blinds.

Since your room gets plenty of sunlight your color options are quite broad.

For your main color, we chose to use to keep light brown as it reminds us of nature and has a relaxing quality which is easy on the eye. Darker browns and greys work well as accent colors and lighter hues like tan and beige can match and unify most rooms.

Use an eggshell finish paint which has a very light touch of shine (similar texture to an eggshell as implied by its name). This finish is very often used for walls and is more durable and easier to clean than matte finish

Since the exterior of the house is painted with a natural color our color options are quite board.

For your main color, we chose to use light brown as it reminds us of nature and has a relaxing quality which is easy on the eye. Darker browns and greys work well as accent colors and lighter hues like tan and beige can match and unify the whole space.

Use a matte finish paint because it will be helpful in camouflaging those surface imperfections such as bumps and cracks as it does not reflect light. Just be careful because matte finish is more difficult to clean. You may also need to touch up scratches or marks by adding more of the same paint in the future.
