Elegant Gold Accented Bedroom Transformation Project Description
I am looking to decorate my husband and I's bedroom. We used Decorilla for both our living room and my husband's office. His office is HIS space and I'd like our bedroom to be MY space, without being overly feminine. I really love the vibe of our living room- I think it's elegant, classy, and slightly feminine so perhaps some inspiration can be drawn from that. What's your favorite decor style?

I have a beautiful glass desk (very antique glass with painted dull gold/brass) that I love. I have never gotten a chair for the desk as I'm at a loss for the style. I would like to keep it in the bedroom and that can possibly guide the decorum BUT I am also open to placing it somewhere else in our home. Are you open to changing your wall colors?

Bedroom:
Sherwin-Williams doesn’t usually like to play color favorites, but in this case we can’t resist. The color we anticipate defining 2017 is Poised Taupe SW 6039. Here’s why: This timeless neutral is modern, classic and a beautiful balance of warm and cool.
As we prepared our 2017 Color of the Year selection, it became clear that neutrals are beginning a transition from the monochrome grey of the past five years to a more complex taupe and brown.
Grey has enjoyed its assent to “favorite” status over the last five years – but 2017 will mark the beginning of a warming trend. Influences such as natural or organic materials, weathered and worn finishes and global cultural preferences have suggested alternatives to a primarily grey existence. Taken from our 2017 colormix™ forecast – our commercial neutrals showcase the best of 2017, anchored by our Color of the Year, Poised Taupe SW 6039.
Our story of taupe is simple. Earthen brown combines with conservative grey and the result is a weathered, woodsy and complex neutral that celebrates the imperfections and authenticity of a well-lived life.

+ON THE CEILING
Calamine is indeed named after the lotion we all used as children to soothe nettle stings and rashes! A light touch of grey prevents this subtle pink from being too sugary, giving a much fresher finish. In smaller rooms it becomes intense, but in larger well lit rooms it feels much more delicate. Pair with our White & Light Tones Primer & Undercoat.
For your main color, we chose to use gray because it is neutral and seen as elegant and classy. It compliments many colors such as white, blue, and yellow and works well as part of a color scheme in any room.
Use a matte finish paint because it will be helpful in camouflaging those surface imperfections such as bumps and cracks as it does not reflect light. Just be careful because matte finish is more difficult to clean. You may also need to touch up scratches or marks by adding more of the same paint in the future.
