Eclectic Cozy & Warm Apartment Design Project Description
I just purchased a new apartment and need to decorate so it's basically a blank slate! There's a great foundation, but it's very beige and light and traditional - overall it feels like it lacks character. I like darker and moodier, more cozy and warm. I need help understanding how to do this in the living/dining/kitchen area without making the room feel small. I like accents of fun with eclectic pieces, uniqueness. Big fan of mixing decades - art deco accents, 70s colors. You'll see i selected masculine for most of the rooms. For this project, looking to lay the foundation on my home's design aesthetic starting with the key rooms noted below. Bathroom and Guest Room renovations to come in phase 2. Pending budget, I will likely purchase key items first and then the rest on rolling basis. Priorities include:
#1 Living/Dining (its a very open floor plan so would also throw kitchen in here, but if not possible added below)
#2 Master Bedroom
#3 Balcony
#4 Entry Way
#5 Kitchen
I'm looking to have #1 Living/Dining Room in a good place by Oct 20 because guests are coming in town.

1. the cabinet color (in the kitchen but also on the island near the dining area) - not a fan of the lightness, open to paint or stain. 2. difficult layout with TV, current setup is the best i've found

Very beige and sterile right now. I would like some depth, texture and colors to make it feel more cozy. I hate the mirrored closet, it looks outdated. Combined Living/Dining:
Since your room gets plenty of sunlight your color options are quite broad.
For your main color, we chose to use white/off-white as it offers a fresh, clean, feel to the space. White and off-white colors are often a favorite for walls because they are light, neutral, and match most color schemes. They are known to make rooms feel more airy and spacious.
Use an eggshell finish paint which has a very light touch of shine (similar texture to an eggshell as implied by its name). This finish is very often used for walls and is more durable and easier to clean than matte finish

Use a matte finish paint because it will be helpful in camouflaging those surface imperfections such as bumps and cracks as it does not reflect light. Just be careful because matte finish is more difficult to clean. You may also need to touch up scratches or marks by adding more of the same paint in the future.
