Contemporary Living Room in Muted Tones

We recently closed on this house on July 20th. Therefore, the furniture in the pictures belong to the sellers. The only item staying is the grey sectional. The entire space doesn’t get very much natural light even with the shades open, so I would love ideas on how we can bring in more light i.e. mirrors. I want the entire space to be warm, inviting but yet elegant and importantly kid friendly, I have a 1yo & 3 yo.

It’s a large space so I want to take advantage of the amazing floorplan. It would be great to have sections where people can sit and talk but not be limited to sitting only on the sectional or at the dining table.

I’m not afraid of accent colors, patterns and textures. Bring it on! :)

I want to keep the paint as is on the walls.

Since I mentioned the space doesn’t get much natural light, my husband and I talked about getting canned lightening, would love suggestions on light fixtures.
