Project Description:

We have an 18 x21 family room with a 12 x 15 eating area off to side that we want to furnish.
The family room has a cathedral ceiling with fireplace. This is our main entertaining space and used also for TV viewing. (70 inch TV mounted on wall)

Needs in family room are sofa, chairs, desk, area rug, etc. Eating area only needs bar stools. We prefer transitional design with a comfortable sofa and chairs in the seating area.

We just had the house painted. The color in the kitchen, eating area and family is Sherwin William “Big Chill”

It's not a warm, comfy feeling or comfortable room. Might need more storage. Old mismatched furniture.

What pieces of existing furniture, lighting, art or accessories do you want to keep in the design?:

We would like to keep the coffee table, the long buffet in the corner, the TV, preferably the hanging chandelier and if furniture under the TV can be used, that would be fine.

In the eating area, we would like to keep the dining room table and chairs and the liquor cabinet. My husband mentioned that we only need bar stools for the eating area. We also need a lamp over the table and anything else you think would work, even placemats. I don't want it to look too asian if possible. We'll post dimensions of the furniture in the general comments.

Gray as your main color is perfect because it is neutral and seen as elegant and classy. It compliments many colors and works well as part of a color scheme in any room.

Use an eggshell finish paint which has a very light touch of shine (similar texture to an eggshell as implied by its name). This finish is very often used for walls and is more durable and easier to clean than matte finish
