Bold Contemporary Interior Design Ideas

I am building a new contemporary 3-story house in Vermont with 50 mile western views of Lake Champlain. Lots of glass and views.

I will be doing pretty much all new furniture.

I'd like to start this process with my main floor (second floor) and if this works, move on from there to the other rooms and floors. My favorite furniture is Roche Bobois/Italian style.

I do not like every inch covered with furniture. To me, space is a great luxury. I hate side lamps and floor lamps. (ie: no lamps) I only want great ceiling and wall light-- light is very important to me, so it must be done well.

I like a "zen" feel, but not Asian--just simple lines and no clutter. However, I want the home to be warm and welcoming--not too ultra modern. Thus I want floor to ceiling draperies--simple draperies that hang from hidden channels in the ceiling.

I love missoni-type fabrics for color--cushions and such.

Please note: there is a long, low gas fireplace in the living room. A large TV will sit over the fireplace and be covered by a large piece of art.
