Sydney

Sydney graduated Magna Cum Laude from Appalachian State University in 2012. During her time in school, she received several scholarships, awards and grants for her research and work on her degree in interior design. Since graduating, she has worked as an interior designer at a health care design firm, an account manager at a premier furniture dealership, and is currently an interior designer at McMillan Pazdan Smith. All of these experiences have helped shape her work style and design aesthetic. Her experience in space planning and furniture specifications is a unique asset that influences her designs and is a benefit to her clients. She has an artistic eye and a passion for contrasting patterns and textures, as well as sustainable, natural materials.

Describe your go-to style:

Clean lines, warm wood tones, and neutrals with splashes of color. I also love to incorporate in sentimental pieces and fun artwork wherever possible!

What’s your prediction for the next big trend in design?

I think people are going to start moving away from the farmhouse trend. While cute, and relevant in certain spaces, I think a home should be a reflection of your lifestyle and environment - we don’t all have to have shiplap everywhere!

From where do you draw most of your inspiration?

As an avid hiker and backpacker, I draw a lot of inspiration from nature. Colors, symmetry, balance... there are a lot of lessons we can learn about design by looking outside of the built environment!
