Lane has a BFA in Interior Architecture and Graphic Design from The University of Kansas. With over 10 years of leadership experience working as a multidisciplinary designer, she thrives on working in inspiring, progressive and engaging environments where she can best utilize her individual initiative to participate and contribute fresh ideas which consistently result innovative solutions. Lane believes interior architectural design and graphic design are about much more than just creating aesthetically pleasing spaces, but that it’s about bringing people together and substantiating memorable, significant environments that tell a story. She is a storyteller. Lane looks forward to breaking traditional design boundaries, by joining together both a product and a message that will inspire others and get her clients' new spaces noticed. She considers all angles of a project to identify solutions, and is dedicated to meeting the expectations of every client by accepting every clients' feedback, which she then uses to improve her designs and services.
We know you love designing, but what about it do you love most?
I love the freedom it gives me, emotionally, spiritually, and even physically. When I am in "design mode", all of my day-to-day worries and anxieties seem to disappear and I'm able to channel that energy into creating something meaningful for someone other than myself. My talent for design brings on an appreciation, a sensitivity, and an understanding of life that fills my soul with compassion, gentleness, and a deep loving concern for everyone and everything around me. Beautiful design does not just happen. For me, my passion comes from the ability to pull myself out of the depths of my own defeats and struggles, and use that strength towards creating something that is both visually and psychologically significant.
What drives you to design?
Connection, Creativity and Customization! I love to connect with my clients! It’s a part of my company name and it’s the first step I take with every new project. Creating and Customizing a design that is unique to my clients’ personal style, lifestyle demands, budget and timeline is essential to every project. I draw my design inspiration from my clients. Many times my clients come to me without a defined style or they have conflicting ideas and aren't quite sure where to start. I love being able to hone in to their unique tastes and create a one-of-a-kind, timeless design for them. I am here to help my clients eliminate costly design mistakes by helping my clients visualize their new spaces before any changes are made. That's what makes me a professional! Designing spaces that my clients love today, and will grow with and love 10 years from now is an accomplishment to be proud of... I am always prepared to take on new challenges that come my way!
What’s your prediction for the next big trend in design?
This website is one example. Virtual, or e-design, are becoming new trends. However, I believe design follows the unpredictability of humanity. Life is an improvisation. You have no idea what's going to happen next and you are mostly just making things up as you go along... :) Therefore, it's nearly impossible to know which path design will take. Things have a way of repeating themselves because a lot of people fear change. Then again, there are also those who are eager to blaze new trails into the unknown, where design movements will become limitless. Advancements in technology are progressing at such a fast pace, we may soon find ourselves in completely simulated environments.
