Describe your go-to style:
My go-to style is a blend of beachy-glamour with some traditional elements. This style emerged as a result of a childhood spent in the Caribbean followed by adulthood in the South. Healthy doses of glamour is added to make the traditional elements fresh and to ensure that the beachy vibe never feels sloppy.
What drives you to design?
I'm the youngest in my family, with that came a strong desire to create my own identity and not just emulate my older siblings. The need for self-expression fostered a fertile ground for creativity and imagination. I later turned those qualities on and focused them into my interior design practice. Personalizing a space and transforming it from a white box to a handcrafted, well-designed interior that brings joy to all who experience it is the passion that drives me.
From where do you draw most of your inspiration?
I draw most of my inspiration from my surroundings. I let the building's architecture, the view through the windows and the sounds that I hear start my design process. There's a commercial space that I worked on that looked like a small church from the outside, had a view of mature foliage and the sounds of trains were ever present. Using those elements for my design inspiration made my design much more interesting and cohesive.
