Colinda V.
Colinda is Nordic/Scandinavian style designer who obtained her degree in Graphic Design and continued with a specialization in interior design. Working as a graphic designer for over nine years led her to work on interior assignments.
Colinda believes that interior design must be linked with the purpose of the pieces selected and how these pieces interact with human beings as well as the emotions that they deliver to a client. Her work has led her to several countries all over the world.
She believes in minimalism and loves the beauty of simplicity. Geometric shapes and graphic lines but also warmth and coziness are central in her designs. Colinda believes an interior should be custom made and not only a collection of beautiful designs or objects. An interior should tell a personal story, be functional and fit in the space where it is based. And most of all, it should create a positive energy.
From where do you draw most of your inspiration?
Life. Traveling. People. I love going to showrooms, to go to fairs and events, and to meet and learn from interesting people. Everything that makes me happy, can inspire me. Everything that makes me a better designer, I cherish.
Describe your favorite project:
One of my favorite projects was for rental agency which rents out luxury penthouses particularly for expatriates. I was responsible for the interior styling of a penthouse in a modern skyscraper building in the middle of the center of Rotterdam in the Netherlands. The assignment that I received was that the design of the apartment should be attractive to a wide public, but also should reveal the exclusivity of the place.
In my design I created a concept in which the expatriate would learn more about the city that they were going to live in. In this particular case, it was important to place a lot of emphasis in abstract photography. I decided to take photos of several places in Rotterdam so that the lines and artifacts on these pictures corresponded to the design I created. In the selection of furniture and accessories I used a rather minimalistic approach based on Nordic style and light, but high quality furniture. An impression of this apartment is shown on my profile page.
We know you love designing, but what about it do you love most?
I love the fact that my creativity can make someone else feel happy. Design should be all about emotions and positive feelings.
