Britney M.
Fueled by the desire to absorb all things Interior Design, Britney eats, sleeps and breaths all things design. Having experience as a senior designer in a smaller firm this environment not only cultivated her attention to detail but helped mold and perfect the client experience. Having a firm belief that your environment has a large effect on your mood, its important that the client not only loves how the space looks but loves living in it. With a background in Art History and Illustration, Britney's desire for design started at an early age. Having worked on projects such as large scale residential to even small scale commercial projects, Britney's grasp on things such as color and composition provide a unique design experience.
Describe your favorite project:
One of my favorite projects included an off center fireplace. The space was very linear and didnt provide a lot of movement in the room. With the fireplace being in the far right hand corner of the space it made it difficult to design the room around that feature. I decided to design a custom built in that pulled the mantel over the fireplace and then extended towards the center of the main wall in the room. Underneath were custom shelves flanked by pony walls on each side. By extending the mantel to the center of the room and dressing the once traditional fireplace with marble, it centered the room and provided a beautiful focal point.
What drives you to design?
Having a background in Art, I find myself driven by the idea of a 2D composition coming to life in a 3D world. I am a firm believer in the impact an environment can have on your life. When you are comfortable and surrounded by beautiful well designed spaces, most generally feel more comfortable and confident. Interior design provides a platform for designers to dream up beautiful spaces and provide clients with these spaces to succeed whether it be with their family, friends or in a professional way and that in itself is what drives my insatiable thirst for all things design!
We know you love designing, but what about it do you love most?
After all the hard work, time and energy that goes into a project is finally over, the most fulfilling part of design process is when it all comes together. Most people do not realize the amount of moving parts involved when it comes to designing a space from scratch. So many hands touch the project and sometimes that can be stressful. However, when that finally piece of the puzzle clicks in and what started as an idea becomes reality you realize it was all worth it!
