For your main color, we chose to use white/off-white as it offers a fresh, clean, feel to the space. White and off-white colors are often a favorite for walls because they are light, neutral, and match most color schemes. They are known to make rooms feel more airy and spacious.
Use an eggshell finish paint which has a very light touch of shine (similar texture to an eggshell as implied by its name). This finish is very often used for walls and is more durable and easier to clean than matte finish

We'd like to try to establish a style for the home that feels cohesive, yet interesting, throughout. All the included rooms are on the first floor of the home (will include a floor plan). I do love colorful decor to add interest. We enjoy art and would love help with art selections for the spaces (art can have more color and pops of color, etc). I also love the idea of mixing in vintage pieces (i.e. wood only such as consoles, side tables, etc.; not vintage sofas or chairs). I love solid wood furniture, and am not a fan of any cheap non-solid wood furniture, when possible (unless it's very high quality).
Please note we have 2 small kids (5 and 3), so ideally designs can be kid friendly (i.e. performance fabrics, livable, etc.).

Please let us know what you honestly think, and if you think we should go in a different direction with color for those rooms; we are not at all sure. Re: lighting question -- the room is Northern exposure, and it feels like a "sun room" because it has large windows and a door (leading to patio and pool area/backyard) and gets excellent light all day long.
I dislike that the room is very dated and has no style at the moment. We are knocking out the back wall and installing built ins and a linear fireplace with frame tv above (slab behind).
We need the room to also be functional for anyone coming off the pool area where they might get the rug wet. :( So no super plushy or high maintenance rugs, please.

Hi Maya! Thanks again for your design expertise and help with this room! We're looking for a full update. We'd like a king-sized bed, two nightstands, and at least one dresser. We'd love some additional lighting, such as lamps on the nightstands and a floor lamp. If there is also room for a small chair or seat that would be great.
We would like to paint the walls and would love your thoughts about what colors, treatments, paper, paneling, etc.
Just a quick note - we recently moved into this house, and the attached photos of the bedroom are from the staging before we moved in... because the bedroom is currently under construction. We are filling in the small "alcove" above the door (see photos), removing the floating crown molding and adding it to the actual ceiling line to follow the vault, removing all the can lights (so we'll only have the 1 ceiling light), and we are Level 5 smoothing the walls. It's currently all under construction, so current photos wouldn't be helpful. :)
The room is a Southern exposure, so we get good light all day; though there is just 1 window. One side of the window is very close to the wall, and there is a lot more space on the other side.
