I am looking to redecorate or spruce up my family living room, bedrooms, hallway, and dining room. I am thinking of tackling each of these areas one by one but would still like a cohesive look throughout our home. I have been in a few model homes recently and would love the look of a functional model home since I have little ones. I love accent walls and pops of color in the design. I am looking forward to this process and would love more information on how this works and how to get started.

It's a fairly large room and acts as family room/partial play room for the kids. This room also has both a fireplace and a cubby for the entertainment area but they are on 2 different walls so it's difficult to arrange the room to highlight both.

What pieces of existing furniture, lighting, art or accessories do you want to keep in the design?:

I would like to keep the entertainment center area but it is not a must. It definitely needs to be redecorated but I am open to what looks best.

I would love to make this room a functional living space with storage for the kids toys as they tend to use a small part of this room for a play area. I also would love to pull up the carpet and put gray toned hardwood floors with some sort of large area rug. We are a family of 5 so a large sofa area is a must. I also don't love the brown blinds so if there were some design of curtains that could mask the blinds, that would be great!

Since your room gets plenty of sunlight your color options are quite broad.

For your main color, we chose to use gray because it is neutral and seen as elegant and classy. It compliments many colors such as white, blue, and yellow and works well as part of a color scheme in any room. Baltic Gray

Use a matte finish paint because it will be helpful in camouflaging those surface imperfections such as bumps and cracks as it does not reflect light. Just be careful because matte finish is more difficult to clean. You may also need to touch up scratches or marks by adding more of the same paint in the future.
