Project Description

I have an open kitchen/family room that I would like get new furniture and accessories for. I have 2 teenagers, a husband, a 90 lb dog and a cat that scratches the sofa. So all furniture must be comfortable and durable. Sofa, furniture do not need to be investment quality pieces, since we will probably end up redoing once both kids are in college (7 yrs). The style of the house is transitional with a little glam. Looking for a new sofa that can accommodate all of us watching a movie together. We also love to entertain, so seating is important.

What do you currently dislike about the room?

Furniture is 10 years old and showing wear (from kids and animals), there is no art on the walls and very little decor. The living room area where the tv is located is a small space and doesn't allow for a large sofa. The nook area with the banquette is not used as much as it should be.

What pieces of existing furniture, lighting, art or accessories do you want to keep in the design?

I love the chandelier in the entry way as well as the blue artwork (though could be moved as needed). I like the dining chandelier and pendants in the kitchen, but could be open to change. The blue cabinet and possibly the built in banquet (though open to suggestions).

Additional comments to designers

The doors that lead out to the patio are quad fold. The 3 panels (as you face outside) open to the left and accordion fold. The one panel on the right opens to the right and is the main door we use to get outside when the other 3 panels are closed.
