Since your room gets plenty of sunlight your color options are quite broad.
For your main color, we chose to use white/off-white as it offers a fresh, clean, feel to the space. White and off-white colors are often a favorite for walls because they are light, neutral, and match most color schemes. They are known to make rooms feel more airy and spacious.
Use an eggshell finish paint which has a very light touch of shine (similar texture to an eggshell as implied by its name). This finish is very often used for walls and is more durable and easier to clean than matte finish

Project Title:
Timeless English Country Living Room Design
Project Description:
We are looking to make our living room feel personalized and replace the furniture in it. We love the bookshelves in our room and redid the fireplace, but it otherwise does not have any personality. I like more English/New England type living rooms, but I also don’t want it to feel overly formal. We have a toddler son and another on the way (along with two dogs). So, we want a room that feels more elevated than what we have but also that isn’t formal or stuffy. It truly functions as a living room and we want it to be a space that feels warm and inviting to us by the time we have our baby in November.
I also like color, but the room does not get a lot of natural light. Because of this, I think I want to keep the walls a light color (even if not exactly the same) and to bring in color through accents. A lot of my inspiration pictures feature blue, which I do like, but I want to make sure the design does not lean too coastal or look like a Serena and Lily calendar. I prefer green!

What do you currently dislike about the room?:
I dislike that it does not feel intentional (because the furniture was not intentional--we bought furniture quickly after moving in 4 years ago) and that we have large parts of walls that are empty/that I feel like are oddly sized.
We will be purchasing a new couch because we do not like ours. Our current couch is the Cindy couch by Rowe and it has not help up well (broken zippers, pilled fabric, cushions haven't held shape) in the under 4 years we have had it.
We like having a sectional for seating reasons, but we would be open to smaller option/a version with a chaise if we could incorporate better seating outside of the couch. A challenge is the way the room opens up--we've struggled to find a good chair configuration that still works with the room. The best light in the house actually comes from the sunroom behind the french doors behind the couch, so we have closed that off a bit with the current couch situation.

What pieces of existing furniture, lighting, art or accessories do you want to keep in the design?:
I like our bookshelves for the most part, though I would want to elevate the design of them. That part of the project is less important to me, however, and I expect that I will continue to work on the bookshelves over time organically as I find different items that I like as we travel. Otherwise, everything can go. My son's play kitchen also does not need to be in this room if we have a better idea of how to use that space. I have considered putting in a built in bench with storage in that same spot, but we do use that space for our Christmas tree (space for a Christmas tree is important to me).
We will keep the frame TV too. The black cabinet next to the fireplace is used to store all the wires for the TV, so we need a solution for that but we do not care about the black cabinet itself. It just fit the space nicely because it was narrow (the depth of that little lip next to the fireplace is just over 12 inches).

Additional comments to designers:
The length of the wall where the couch is placed is 10 foot 1 inch (the couch is slightly smaller/nearly fills it). The length of the L on the sectional is about 7 feet, 4 inches and we would not want to go any longer than this.
