The tiles were removed as part of a town-required repair to fix leaking pipes underneath the existing tub. The pipe repair has since been completed, though it cannot be fully tested until a tub or shower is reinstalled — which is another reason we are eager to move forward quickly. Since the room was already in a state of demolition, we are taking the opportunity to do a full renovation and upgrade the finishes, fixtures, layout, and overall aesthetic, which were all outdated. Prior to demolition, the main issues were: a shower stall that was too small, and a layout that did not make the most of the space — particularly the tub alcove with its beautiful fixed French windows, which was underutilized.
What pieces of existing furniture, lighting, art or accessories do you want to keep in the design?:
The existing vanity may be worth retaining and refinishing if the designer feels it can be updated to meet the aesthetic goals — for example, new doors or drawer fronts in rift-sawn white oak, new hardware in brushed brass, and a new countertop. This would be a cost-conscious alternative to a full custom replacement, and we are open to the designer's assessment. Otherwise, no other existing furniture, lighting, art, or accessories are intended to be kept. The existing toilet may also be retained temporarily but will likely be replaced.
