Project Title:
Eclectic Red Brick Accent Porch Transformation
Project Description:
I am building a new screened porch. I would like help choosing light fixtures & their placement, flooring, paint colors, & furniture/decor.
This area will look directly out to our existing pool/patio.
I want the porch to be vaulted. I would like to remove the existing brick knee wall & either do screens all the way to the ground or an open railing (to prevent our dogs from tearing up the screens at the bottom), so our view of the pool is enhanced & match that to the new porch.
Flooring - 1st choices would be brick pavers or wood look tile (depending on cost).
Fireplace - we are planning to do either a full masonry FP 6’ wide w 36” opening. the front of the fireplace flush with interior wall w/ entire chimney outside the structure if possible. Tv mounted over FP. Need help choosing mantle.
*brick used on the house is discontinued. Working with local brick company to find a match for fireplace.
Ceilings - We currently have stained tongue in groove on the ceiling of our existing porch. We are planning to do exposed rafters (2x6 pine) w tongue in groove on top. I would like to paint it but not sure if I want all white or mix of colors.
Lighting/fans - want this to be a well lit area so it can be used at night. I want a commercial (big ass fan or the like) type outdoor fan, so that it can be utilized in the summer. Not opposed to lighting on columns, recessed lighting & or track lighting.
Would like barn door mounted inside new porch that would allow us to cover connection between new & old porch (keep dogs on old porch).
Electrical/wiring - need to know where to run wiring for lamps in flooring, wiring for TV mount, electrical outlets in columns, security lighting on outside. Also interested in ceiling mounted radiant electric heaters.
I generally like light & airy spaces with some wood tones to make the space feel warm. I want comfortable upholstered pieces w clean lines, fabrics need to be kid friendly. I live in the South w VERY hot humid summers, so furniture will also need to be mildew resistant.
