The client drew inspiration from traditional living room designs with a French twist. Wrought iron chandeliers with candle detail and large mirrors frequently featured in the client’s inspiration collection. Rich tones of burgundy and gold adorn the window treatments and are mirrored in the scatter cushion fabric. A Mediterranean living room with a few subtle Asian touches is what the client was looking for in her traditional online living room design. It’s always a great help if clients collect a few living room ideas to give the interior designer a sense of their style!

Two Decorilla designers presented the client with their initial proposals, but it was the warm orange hues from Nadia G. that fit the brief best.  Nadia played with different living room layout ideas and consequently proposed a change to accommodate more seating for guests. An adjacent dining room also needed to be incorporated in the traditional online living room design because it formed part of the semi-open plan first floor.

The elegant chairs in the living room give the interior a contemporary look with the simple lines and bright orange fabric. Decorative accents include a ceiling rosette and brass detail in vases and table lamps. Nadia also included elegant drapery to soften the space. The bold pop of red with the area rug brings in the perfect traditional Mediterranean feel the clients were looking for.

The result is a traditional online living room design with a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere. Interior designer Nadia chose warm colors that are uplifting and that pair well with potted plants. The cooler blue detail in the scatter cushions and blossom artwork might seem small, but it brings the palette together.

Luxurious swag drapes frame the bay window to add an old-world charm to the mix of styles in the interior. After experimenting with different living room layout ideas, the placement of the occasional chairs and ottomans prevent them from blocking the light coming through the large windows. The plush red and ivory scatters complement the beautiful red Persian carpet and add balance as a result.

Now the living room is a unique blend of the Tuscan and Asian styles the client adores. Organized and pretty, this traditional style living room has matured into an inviting area that can cater to groups or cozy family evening alike. Across the hall in the dining area a contemporary, but ornate chandelier is the perfect lighting choice, that adds rather than takes from the elegant feature wall in the dining area. Both spaces now blend together seamlessly.

The client’s home boasts an entryway flanked by beautiful arches, but the interior lacked the sophistication to match the architecture.

Blinds and awkward lighting did little to enhance the lovely fireplace.

Because the house is a bit older, the interior designer decided to go with a matte paint for the walls. A matte finish doesn’t reflect light, which makes it the best option for hiding bumps and scratches. The rich and revitalizing Baked Clay wall color form an uplifting base for the rest of the furniture and decoration.
