Some Decorilla designers explore restraint, others pursue tension. Today’s spotlight introduces Marya Wozniuck, whose bold, eclectic approach turns contrast itself into a design principle. Let’s meet Marya and discover what drives her unique sense of coherence.
Meet Interior Designer: Marya Wozniuck
Marya’s instinct for staging spaces surfaced early. She was staging rooms—namely, her childhood bedroom—before she knew the word for it. That impulse toward deliberate room compositions stayed with her and eventually shaped a career.
Her first big project came at IKEA, where she worked as a visual merchandiser and redesigned the kitchen department layout. The role taught her how people actually move through spaces, how functionality and visual impact have to work in tandem. That hands-on understanding of spatial flow still anchors her process, even as her aesthetic has evolved toward richer, more expressive interiors.
As one of the Decorilla designers, Marya brings a particular fixation on layered lighting. She’s also drawn to color-drenched rooms and the current rise of accent steel furniture, trends that suit her appetite for statement-making. But bold doesn’t mean carelessin Marya’s creative world. On the contrary, her spaces feel controlled: timeless bones reinvented with modern edge.

Did interior design always interest you?
Yes, interior design has fascinated me since childhood. My room was always meticulously staged, with toys displayed like décor rather than played with. Creating beautiful, intentional spaces felt natural from an early age, and design and art have always been part of my path.
How would you define your design style?
I would describe my style as bold, eclectic, a refined mix of interesting patterns, rich materials, and thoughtful contrasts. I love blending old and new, classic and modern, to create spaces that feel both timeless and expressive.
Who or what influences your work?
I’ve had a passion for design my entire life, and over the years, many designers and styles have influenced me. I’m constantly inspired by art, architecture, and the creativity woven into everyday life.
What’s a must-have item you make sure to include in your interior designs?
Layered lighting is essential to me — general, task, and decorative. Even the best design falls flat without proper lighting, so I always ensure every space has depth, warmth, and dimension through thoughtful illumination.
What is a recent design trend that you’re loving at the moment?
I’m loving color-drenched rooms and the rise of accent steel furniture. They’re bold, expressive, and create a memorable statement — definitely trends I enjoy experimenting with.
If you had to pick a favorite room in your home, which would it be and why?
My favorite room is my living room because it’s where I get to showcase my design style to friends and family. It’s the space where we gather, connect, and enjoy the atmosphere I’ve created.
What is your favorite design magazine or blog, and why?
Architectural Digest — always. Their features highlight fresh, innovative, and unique design ideas. Like many other Decorilla designers, I constantly find inspiration in the creative worlds they showcase.
What was your first big project, and what was your favorite part?
My first big project was when I worked at IKEA as a visual merchandiser. I redesigned and planned the new kitchen department layout. It taught me so much about spatial flow, functionality, and how people experience design in real time.
How do you manage challenges that come up during a design project?
I approach challenges with flexibility and a problem-solving mindset. I break down the issue, look for creative solutions, and communicate clearly with clients to ensure we’re aligned. Every challenge becomes an opportunity to elevate the final design.
Why do you like online interior design?
I love online interior design because it offers freedom and creativity without limits. Working from home, and as one of Decorilla’s designers, allows me to create comfortably in my most inspired environment. Also, communication is seamless since everything is organized in message threads. It’s the perfect blend of flexibility, clarity, and creative flow.
