THE CHALLENGE

  • Incorporate minimal hotel room decoration to save space
  • Ensure that the bedroom and bathroom have a cohesive design
  • Create a King Suite that is unique, luxurious and comfortable

THE INSPIRATION

After receiving proposals, the client chose Mladen C., to take on the challenge. The inspiration came directly from the designer’s portfolio of completed luxury boutique hotels. Grey dominated most of the room pictures, while warmer gold decor complimented the contemporary furniture. Plush bedding and feature walls, either with a shimmering finish or wallpaper, were firm favorites.

THE DESIGN

Designing a boutique hotel on a tight schedule is no easy task, but interior designer Mladen excelled and created a contemporary and chic interior concept worthy of the best luxury boutique hotels. The space is filled with layered light and feels spacious despite its size. Through bold additions of color, Mladen created distinct living areas. A sapphire sectional is a beautiful contrast to the neutral grey of the room, and a large painting breaks the wallpaper to signify the seating area of the room. Two complementary coffee tables sit at the foot of the sofa, and their round shapes are a little more casual, to balance the aesthetic of the room.

The initial mood board included a refined grey color palette with multiple suggestions for textiles. An upholstered headboard, simple puffy bedding, and minimalist nightstands make up the restful section of the king suite. The virtual layout of the small hotel interior design online included a working desk, lounge area, and media console to cater to every type of traveler. Once the client was happy with the proposal, Mladen went on to create a design that is unlike any other and supremely luxurious.

THE RESULT

The off-white chalk color on the wall helps to make the room feel airy, while the forest-scape wallpaper adds depth to the contemporary interior. The design is minimal and chic, without being cold because of the warm tones from the gold task lamps and wooden accents. A grid-tufted headboard and marble side tables give the bedroom a sophisticated atmosphere.

Thanks to the designer’s intuitive use of layered wall color, wallpaper, and wooden panels, this small hotel interior doesn’t feel tiny. The forest-scape wallpaper is repeated on the wall opposite the bed, to create a focal point above the desk, keeping the area visually intriguing above all. A contemporary blue chair adds lightness to the interior and emphasizes the accent color. The chic design is minimalist in essence, as functional décor elements eliminate the need for additional items.

THE BATHROOM

Luxury boutique hotels are often a great source of décor inspiration, and this bathroom is no exception. Gold finishes in the vanity and towel rails complement the warmth of the wrap-around wood paneling. A marble countertop crowns the art deco-inspired vanity which echoes the chic look of the bedroom. Luxurious layered light and the wood paneling ensures a cohesive design throughout.
