Project Description:

First and foremost, this is a rental space and as much as I am keen on changing things up, I don't want to invest too much on things I can't take with me.
I need help with flooring, rugs, walls and windows, plus anything else within my budget you may suggest, that will make the room feel complete. I would like to incorporate color and I am open to suggestions besides my go to colors. I often look at photos where color has been used and find myself thinking I would not have thought it would have worked out if asked about it. The same goes for the use of print, in particular, print on print. I like the look of accent walls with wallpaper. I like the combination of black and white or off white with a pop of color.
I like looks with no fuss as evidenced with the state of my space so far. I would say contemporary is my go to aesthetic with a little rustic in the mix.
I will not upload any photos under 'rest of the house' because no area of my space is too my liking. The most 'complete' are the ones I am working on now. Since I think the purpose is to further evaluate my style, then the photos won't be helpful.

P.S. The living room receives light. The dining room however does not receive any.
I dislike:
-The wall color
-The carpeting
-How the dining area tends to be dark and the lighting currently there is useless
-How the dining area looks boring and sparse
-Door colors
-Baseboard style and color
-I hate how the couch and dining chairs seem to be in the same color family as the carpet and walls making things blend in too much.

What pieces of existing furniture, lighting, art or accessories do you want to keep in the design?:

I would like to keep most things in the living room apart from the floor lamp's lamp shade. The fitting is not the same as the lamp's (euro), so it moves around when bumped into and needs adjusting.
I am open to a new rug in the living room that will go with one I need for the dining area. The accessories in the bookcase can be changed too. I would especially like to see an alternative to the identical butterfly pictures.
For the dining room, the chairs will be replaced. I have been eyeing the Williams Sonoma regency chairs for a while now.(open to a different choice as well) The artwork is there for storage. It will go to a friend once she moves into her new home. I want something really huge there and will discuss an option with you to keep in mind.

I'd like to explore the possibility of concrete flooring.

I like the idea of being able to switch up accessories to change things up. So designing with this in mind will be helpful. I also like being able to swap rugs in the living room and bedroom for instance to serve the same purpose.

For wallpaper, it needs to be the removable kind which is easier to take down.

Since my ceiling in the living room is high and the windows are high as well, I am open to custom drapery because ready made ones in the length I need is limited.

Since your room is large your color options with this room are quite broad

For your main color, we chose to use navy because it is calming, relaxing, and serene. It ris reminiscent of blue skies and deep blue oceans. This color works well in living rooms and creates neat look together with white trim.

Use an eggshell finish paint which has a very light touch of shine (similar texture to an eggshell as implied by its name). This finish is very often used for walls and is more durable and easier to clean than matte finish
