Items you want to keep:

Room Label:
My Living Room
I want this room to feel more masculine/feminine/neutral:
Neutral
What type of sunlight does this room receive?:
Mid-day light
What do you currently dislike about the room?:
My husband loves to buy knick-knacks and he buys some pretty cool ones, but i feel like our shelves are starting to look like a store-front. Just a bunch of items on a shelf. There is not a lot of places to put things, which we did on purpose because we like a more minimalistic look. There is so much dark in the house - the wood is all very dark, the floors are fairly dark, but there are so many windows, that there is plenty of light.
I LOVE the ceiling fan I picked out, but i don't feel like it fits with the decor of the room.
I hate the furniture. We used to have a large sectional in our old house that we could both lay down and snuggle and watch movies all day on. It was the best! I want a couch big enough for that again.

What pieces of existing furniture, lighting, art or accessories do you want to keep in the design?:
The only thing I won't change is the art piece on the fireplace. It is a Peter Lik limited that is currently sold OUT and it spent 10 years hidden away in the basement of our previous home. When we built this house, we decided it would be showcased in our living room, so we actually built it right into the stone on the fireplace. We are not usually big on bold colors, but we both love this piece.
I also won't get rid of the ceiling fan. It is a statement piece for sure and even though it doesn't fit the current decor, I think it's super cool.
This living room is an open concept with the kitchen. I really like the kitchen. There is a lot of red in it, so i feel like there is a good amount of color already in the whole space. I would be open to changing that color scheme if necessary to make it more cohesive with the living room, but my intent was to pull the colors out of the Peter Lik. The rest of the kitchen is just gray quartz, gray glass backsplash and stainless steel appliances.
The shelving and media unit on the TV wall is floating. We paid a lot for them to be handcrafted by a local Amish company. I'd prefer to not take these down, as they are anchored in there good, but would be open to suggestions.
When i answered "no" to changing the floor covering, I meant the actual floors themselves (not the rug) because they go throughout the entire house.

Are you open to changing your wall colors?:
Yes
Do you have a preference for either paint or wall covering, or are you open to both?:
Open to both
Are you open to changing your floor covering?:
No
Additional comments to designers:
I really want a large comfy couch that i can lay on and snuggle with my husband and watch movies. If we change the wall color, we have to figure out how to do that in the whole space since it's open concept. There is a lower ceiling in the kitchen area which kinda gives it an illusion of a separate room. Oh, and I love plants!

Since your room gets little sunlight a warm or rich color will make the room look more luminous
For your main color, we chose to use white/off-white as it offers a fresh, clean, feel to the space. White and off-white colors are often a favorite for walls because they are light, neutral, and match most color schemes. They are known to make rooms feel more airy and spacious.
Use an eggshell finish paint which has a very light touch of shine (similar texture to an eggshell as implied by its name). This finish is very often used for walls and is more durable and easier to clean than matte finish
