I need help decorating a living room, including layout ideas and furniture choices. I do have a few pieces that I am keeping and some that I may or may not depending on your suggestions.

What do you currently dislike about the room?:

I feel the room is too dark and my style has changed. The tv cabinet is a must go.
I have a large peach tile on the floor. I do not like it but right now I want to change the area rug but do not plan on changing the flooring just yet.
It is a room that we live in. I do not have a family room so this room is the center of our home.

What pieces of existing furniture, lighting, art or accessories do you want to keep in the design?:

I would like to keep the Restoration Hardware sofa. I am hoping to work with the existing buffet, possibly changing the handles on it. I really need the storage because my house is older and lacks storage space.
I also would like to keep the large mirror and the plantation shutters.
The lamp, painting and the brass and glass decor with candles on top of the buffet, I am flexible with but would not mind keeping.

I recently found a media console that I think I really like. It is a long way to delivery and it can be canceled. I am attaching a photo of it below and would like to hear your thoughts on it.
The ottoman below we may or my not keep. It is is perfect condition but not sure. I have enclosed a photo below for your thoughts.

Because I live in Miami, I would like to possibly make the look a little more coastal or tropical.
I do need a desk. Right now I have it in the corner of the living room.
The two chairs in my living room right now I have seriously thought about recovering them because they are large in size and good quality. They are very comfortable and in good shape. I am open to that and also open to replacing them.

Since your room is large your color options with this room are quite broad

For your main color, we chose to use white as it offers a fresh, clean, feel to the space. White and off-white colors are often a favorite for walls because they are light, neutral, and match most color schemes. They are known to make rooms feel more airy and spacious.

Use an eggshell finish paint which has a very light touch of shine (similar texture to an eggshell as implied by its name). This finish is very often used for walls and is more durable and easier to clean than matte finish
