For Rachel, the design is her life! She is thoroughly involved in branding, graphic design, and illustrative work. She seeks out clients with a goal to bring back the funk, and curate for a new age. Rachel LOVES what she does, and hopes to share this passion with you next!
Describe your go-to style:
Right now I may be having a moment with 70s glam, but I would have to say Maximal. I love to mix styles of Mod, Urban, and Pop, ultimately expressing a retro chic vibe. I want to create a boutique experience, through bold patterns, and a variety of materials that are carefully curated, globally inspired, and unexpected - connecting the client to the design.
What drives you to design?
Whenever I enter a space for the first time I am overwhelmed with distraction from textiles, graphics, color, and architecture. I have this urge to examine every detail, to take a mental note for future inspiration, and to figure out how I could take this one step further. Good design can be functional, but great design is functional, fearless, and inspiring. Interior design has the power to set the mood, and the experiences that are formed around it. I am driven to design by that transforming effect it has on me, and by the undeniable effect it has on others without them even knowing!
From where do you draw most of your inspiration?
I search for rich, layered, textural goodness in each and every project. My inspiration comes from fashion, media, graphics, textiles, and the people/places that surround the design. I love learning from other designers, being an adamant blog follower, coffee-table-book-collector, and magazine reader. And lastly I listen to the client. Sometimes it's their stories that truly help develop a project into what it can become.
