Tell us your biggest design secret:
My favorite design trick to create a bold statement or a poetic touch to any space is using juxtaposition: placing two tremendously contradictory objects/textures/colors in a otherwise harmonious setting – Let the gap between them slowly unravel and create visual narratives without you having to say a word.
From where do you draw most of your inspiration?
I draw my design inspirations from architectural details and craftsmanship in the past, colors and composition of Abstract Expressionism art, as well as today’s advance technology and delightful spontaneity.
We know you love designing, but what about it do you love most?
Designing requires the designer to incorporate extensive knowledge in human psychology; building codes; architecture and engineering; visual aesthetic theories; etc. in order to create an optimal solution, which in turn yield a rewarding result that is beyond just a shelter. I am passionate about green/sustainable design. Being a world traveller/ a modern day ‘nomad’, I have always loved designing affordable yet unique hotel spaces to enhance the traveling experience. Furthermore, I have keen eyes for eclectic modern design – transparent design that let personalities shine through even the smallest details.
