Soniya Momin has 10 years of interior design experience bringing a creative design approach, meticulous documentation and a high-energy, positive-thinking work style. She has traveled to many parts of the world and linked her knowledge and design in the hospitality, corporate, and legal markets that include projects like the Westin, Crowne Plaza, and the W. Her past experience also includes law firms, tenant improvement, and high profile corporate clients such as Coca Cola Enterprises, CNN, and Turner Construction. She is moving forward in her career to offer her experience to modern and contemporary spaces and work closely with client and design teams to generate creative solutions.

Describe your go-to style:

It all depends on the type of mood I am trying to create for the end user. I love modern and contemporary but that can mean so many things. When I was a newly wed, I designed my home to feel more like a loft that was young and hip and perfect for friend get-togethers for game night. It included brick walls, large airy windows and rustic wood furniture with pops of color. Now that I have a baby and have grown, I am redesigning to have a more mature and elegant style that is still light and airy with neutral tones. With that said, my Go-To style is always evolving and adjusts based on the needs of the end user.

What drives you to design?

I like to create an environment that people enjoy living/working/playing in. There is always a new challenge with different clients and pulling things together for a cohesive look motivates me to constantly play with different ideas. It is the notion of linking knowledge and design that helps generate a creative solution to a difficult problem. My favorite quote that I like to live by is, "When I am working on a problem, I never think about beauty but when I have finished, if the solution is not beautiful, I know it is wrong." -Buckminster Fuller

From where do you draw most of your inspiration?

There is no one place that inspiration sparks. It can be colors in a summer salad, patterns created across an old bridge, or rich customs from different cultures that are drawn into the design. Often it is a story line and extensive research about the location, history, and culture the space is trying to capture. It always changes.
