House was built in 1988 and hasn’t been updated. We’re looking for functional/comfortable design that flows from room to room. We have dogs and a young son.

What do you currently dislike about the room?:
Furniture is too big and I dislike the mini-blinds. I do not like the brick fireplace but I am not sure what we can do about it. The TV/entertainment center – I don’t like the cords and how messy it appears. Our lamps are dated and need to be replaced.
What pieces of existing furniture, lighting, art or accessories do you want to keep in the design?:
We'd like to keep the TV.
We will be replacing the carpet with the floating floor shown below.

Since your room is smaller using a light and pale color will enhance the light and the space in your room
For your main color, we chose to use gray because it is neutral and seen as elegant and classy. It compliments many colors such as white, blue, and yellow and works well as part of a color scheme in any room.
Use an eggshell finish paint which has a very light touch of shine (similar texture to an eggshell as implied by its name). This finish is very often used for walls and is more durable and easier to clean than matte finish
Using lighter colors in your medium-sized room will make it feel more airy and bright
For your main color, we chose to use cotton tail. As a joyful color, it is energizing and uplifting. Light yellows are less overpowering and make for a nice happy wall hue. Gold tones have an aura of luxury or they can be seen as antique.
