Project Title:
Modern Living-Dining Combo Design
Project Description:
We would like to furnish and decorate the combined living/dining in our new home. We would like to use the space to both entertain as well as do quiet activities like reading - there will not be a TV in this area. We'd like an inviting library vibe. The things that are "musts" include a long, rectilinear table in the dining area and wall shelves in the living space.
*Please note that attached photos of our home do not include our current furnishings and are NOT our style - the furnishings are from the staging as part of the home sale process

Items you want to keep:

Room Label:
My Combined Living/Dining
I want this room to feel more masculine/feminine/neutral:
Neutral
What type of sunlight does this room receive?:
Morning light
What do you currently dislike about the room?:
*Please note that the photos above include furniture from realtors' staging - these are not our furnishings.
What we dislike most is that the rooms are quite empty!
What we dislike most is that the rooms are quite empty!
What pieces of existing furniture, lighting, art or accessories do you want to keep in the design?:
We would like to make space for some of our daughter's Montessori items, including her small table and chairs as well as bookshelves at her level for books and toys (my thought was that our wall of shelves in the living space could have "periodical" shelves so that she could see some of her books).
Other than our daughter's items, we are NOT attached to keeping anything, in particular; however, there are some pieces available to us if you think they'd work out. I've attached photos of them below (dining chairs (we have 6 available), sideboard, bench). I've also included a photo of our dining ware, which is from Year and Day (colors: fog and moon).

Are you open to changing your wall colors?:
No
Are you open to changing your floor covering?:
No
Additional comments to designers:
We are minimal in our style. We love plants and natural materials and are open to adding color, but just need guidance! We really want this space to cater to our love of learning AND intimate gathering. We like the Hem Bookmatch table (108") as a possible dining table! We look forward to working with you!
*Our daughter is almost 15 months old...ideally, the designs will be child-safe and even incorporate her point of view (think Montessori design). We also would prefer things that are relatively washable and not too precious (Ex: Ruggable rugs because they're washable).

Since your room gets plenty of sunlight your color options are quite broad.
For your main color, we chose to use gray because it is neutral and seen as elegant and classy. It compliments many colors such as white, blue, and yellow and works well as part of a color scheme in any room.
Use an eggshell finish paint which has a very light touch of shine (similar texture to an eggshell as implied by its name). This finish is very often used for walls and is more durable and easier to clean than matte finish
