The family room will primarily be my husband's space, so I want him to be masculine, cozy and comfortable but also want to use the space for movie nights and entertaining so don't want it to look like a bachelor pad! We have a large flat screen TV mounted above the wood burning fireplace that should stay. My husband also has two framed golf flags that should be part of the design.Golf accents that aren't too schmaltzy, kitschy, old fashioned, or overdone would be fine. I don't want it to look like my Grandpa's basement or my brother's bachelor pad. I'd like a warm, masculine look that doesn't look out of place in a house that is otherwise decorated in transitional style with very light colored furniture and modern accents.

The stairwell to the family room and through the lower level entry are very narrow making it very challenging to get large pieces of furniture into the room. So bear that in mind with furniture choices. I've been contemplating an arrangement of four club chairs around a round coffee table or ottoman as an option. But I know my husband would like a nap spot. Would also be cool to have a putting mat where he can practice while watching games and movies. Thanks!

Since your room is smaller using a dark and rich color will make it feel cozy, warm, and lounge-like
For your main color, we chose to use blue because it is calming, relaxing, and serene. It ris reminiscent of blue skies and deep blue oceans. This color works well in bedrooms and can help turn your space into a soothing sanctuary.
Use a matte finish paint because it will be helpful in camouflaging those surface imperfections such as bumps and cracks as it does not reflect light. Just be careful because matte finish is more difficult to clean. You may also need to touch up scratches or marks by adding more of the same paint in the future.
