I need help with my first floor which is all open concept. I will not be changing paint colors and the kitchen and foyer are not part of the project. The granite counter top in the kitchen is a stone white, gray, and wine color. There is a mix of shiny chrome and matte chrome in the kitchen and in the light fixtures. The rug you see in the foyer is 5.5 ft by 9ft and I would like to use this in the living room instead of the large rug currently pictured there. The wall color for the whole first floor is SW 7016 Mindful Gray. Kitchen hood and some lower kitchen cabinets as well is the fireplace cabinets is BM HC-166 Kendall Charcoal, the rest of the enamel is an unspecified stone white. The Hardwod on the first floor is Urban Lifestyle Exotic Maple Dapple EX-DP309. The rooms that need furniture are the breakfast nook, living room and dining room. We do not like a lot of clutter or things that attract dust. The home was built in 2013 but is a mix of modern and traditional finishes. We have a dog and foster many dogs throughout the year so we prefer leather and wood over fabrics.

I do not like how there is no separation between the formal dining room and the living room. Mostly because the whole first floor is open and between the formal dining, the counter stools and the breakfast nook it feels like there are way too many places to eat but only a certain amount of space for couches/chairs.

What pieces of existing furniture, lighting, art or accessories do you want to keep in the design?:

The counter stools, light fixtures, wood mini-blinds and art shown will stay. We want to use the foyer rug in the living room (instead of the rug currently ther) and keep the rug in the dining nook-it's made by Safvieh, Venice Shag-see picture included for model number.

Since your room gets plenty of sunlight your color options are quite broad.

For your main color, we chose to use gray because it is neutral and seen as elegant and classy. It compliments many colors such as white, blue, and yellow and works well as part of a color scheme in any room.

Use an eggshell finish paint which has a very light touch of shine (similar texture to an eggshell as implied by its name). This finish is very often used for walls and is more durable and easier to clean than matte finish
