Bold Transitional Living Room
Project Description:
Hello. we live in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and we will be moving into a new rental apartment next month.
I would like to work with a designer on paint color schemes which will blend easily from room to room, including painting the ceilings, while incorporating a few of my own pieces of furniture which has a mix of Victorian/Buddhist/South East Asia edge. We also have a lot of art from our travels that we would like to use, but I’m stuck with the curtains (ugh)
I would like to start working with a designer on the living/dining room area first (I have photos and a video) to see if we are a good match.
It’s a space where we will be entertaining officials and diplomats, so would like to blend the traditionally elegant, with a splash of sass.

The odd layout, with the living, dining and bar area is all one big room. How to make separate living areas, without creating a mish mash.

Since your room gets little sunlight a warm or rich color will make the room look more luminous
For your main color, we chose to use yellow. As a joyful color, it is energizing and uplifting. Light yellows are less overpowering and make for a nice happy wall hue. Gold tones have an aura of luxury or they can be seen as antique.
Use an eggshell finish paint which has a very light touch of shine (similar texture to an eggshell as implied by its name). This finish is very often used for walls and is more durable and easier to clean than matte finish
