PAINT COLORS

There are three main paint colors in my home. I really do not want to repaint any rooms. I think my colors to provide the overall feel that I want.

BM White Dove - all trim, any white wall, ceilings, master closet, first floor ‘hallway’
(kitchen cabinets are from Clique Studio and are “Painted White” color. They coordinate nicely with the White Dove which is not a bright white.

BM Manchester Tan - entryway, living room, all bedrooms, staircase, upstairs hallway. I LOVE this color. Bright blues seem to go very nicely with this color. I think Manchester Tan looks good in any light. I wish I didn’t use Stonington Gray anywhere and just used Manchester Tan, but I am trying to make it work.

BM Stonington Gray - Kitchen, Dining Room, Master Bath, Mudroom, Garage, Kids bath. This color has read very blue from the beginning. I tried so hard to make this a neutral gray in my house. Everyone who sees it says what a nice “blue’ it is. It drives me crazy. I think it can work, but definitely need expert help making it happen. I painted a door BM “Golden Orchards” in my mudroom against the Stonington Gray (with Montauk Black slate floor) and absolutely love this color door. I think yellow looks very nice against Stonington Gray -but that’s about all I can say about it right now.

Black - most of my interior, Anderson 400 tilt/wash windows are black finish on the interior. I love them.

OTHER FINISHES

Kitchen Cabinets - Clique Studios (online) “Painted White”. This is not the new “Bright White” that they now offer. Mine is a soft white.

Kitchen fixtures/appliances are Stainless and polished chrome. Drawer pulls on 8x5 island are matte black.

Granite Countertops - perimeter are Leathered Absolute Granite which I love. Center island is Antartide Marble which I love. I know it is somewhat of a clash with my white island. The white island cabinetry is way more creamy than the white in the marble -but it works and I do love it.

My floors throughout the home (except bathrooms and mudroom) are Pergo “Nashville Oak”. I do love them. They are various shades of brown - no red or orange tones as far as I can see. I don’t like reds or oranges in flooring.

Flooring in Mudroom and Bathrooms is “Montauk Black” 12”x24”. I forgot the brand. They are from Home Depot and I love them more and more every day.

Fireplace - stone around my fireplace is Stonecraft, Laurel Canyon Ledge, in “Asher” color. The hearth is a solid piece of bluestone. My mantel was made by my father and is painted BM “White Dove”.

Other Notes/Likes/Dislikes

My home is on 22 acres in the Hudson Valley in New York. My lot is mostly wooded.

I have curtains for the three living room windows that I have not installed yet. They are from JCPenny -ID: 7318007 Liz Claiborne Quinn Lattice Grommet-Top Curtain Panel in “Sullivan Khaki”. I think they are a good match. The actual lattice in the pattern matches the Manchester Tan exactly.

I like furniture that is raised off of the floor where you can still see the floor. I don’t like when couches go right to, or almost to, the floor.

I do like cow print. Im fascinated with mixing different prints and patterns. I still can’t figure out myself what makes this work or not work!

I do not like Bun Feet on any furniture

I like the idea of an upholstered, large coffee table, with a hard tray on top for items. I’ve seen some of these on wheels that you could move close to the couch to put your feed on when needed. Seems like a good idea.

I am interested in keeping the inside of my home reflective of the wooded setting outside.

I’m very open to ideas. Please don’t get too set on my likes and dislikes. Im open to all professional opinions.

My living room ceiling. At the peak, it is 22’ high. I am wired for 3 fixtures or maybe two fans, one fixture, etc. I want to be sure this gets attention in the plan.

Fireplace - I consider the fireplace complete except for accessories. The painting above my fireplace is 48”x48”. It is of a Native American Appaloosa Spirit Horse. The scones are from Lamps Plus and are 19” high. There is a “Trail of Tears” statue on the right side of the mantel. This statue is sitting on a small book of the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights. I would like to keep all of this as is, unless something is out of scale. I am open to adding to the mantel as I feel something is missing. I love my horse painting, I love horses, but I do not want what I call a ‘theme’ house with horses everywhere. But what should my other artwork be I wonder, now that I have this large piece with a horse. Need help here going forward. We do use the fireplace a lot seasonally.

Living Room - I don’t know exactly where to define my living room within my open floor plan. I was under the impression that if I am standing at my island with my back to my cooktop, centered in the cooktop, looking forward, that my living room TV should be straight in line with me on my largest living room wall straight ahead. If I do this, I think the seating area of the living room becomes off center. Need so much help here. We have four children, ages 11 - 16. While I want everyone to have a comfortable seat, I’m not interested in making sure all six of us can sit facing the tv. I’m not a fan of sectional sofas. If you are facing my fireplace and look to the right, there are two windows and then one more window on the largest living room wall. These three windows have a beautiful view all seasons - and amazing sunset views. I did think of a small table and chairs set here but not sure. Maybe a better idea is at least one, comfortable swivel recliner and small table?

I am excited for this area and am looking for some great ideas. If facing the fireplace and look to the left, there are two windows and then a patio door on the next small wall. This door will walk out to our patio that can also be accessed through the mudroom. Not sure how high use this door in the living room will get. We use the fireplace a lot. How can I be sure at least my husband and I can face the fire or be close to it comfortably? Maybe not possible. Again, need help! I may build built-in cabinetry on the large living room “tv” wall. I would be open to just using furniture here as well - maybe with some shelving. If I do built-ins I will use Clique Studios cabinetry. I would LOVE to display an American Flag in my living room even if its just framed and on the wall or on a shelf. I’ve seen flags that are framed behind glass, I do like that look. Again, I don’t want to get too “theme-y”. We will probably get a 75” tv or 70”. The column on my house plan that is closest to my entryway has moved from the original plan. It moved closer to the other column that is near the center island and dining room. I will get those measurements for you when needed. I have three exposed rafters in the living room. I have samples for faux wrapping but have not decided. They are wood-look. I was just going to pick one closest to my floor color.

Entry - there is a reddish dresser in my entryway. I would like to make this work, but I’m not sure. I am open to painting this dresser. I would like a coat rack and a place to sit in here, as we really do come in and out of this front door - especially me. I’m not looking for a lot of seating, maybe just one chair/seat to put my shoes on. I would like to have a place for umbrellas and maybe a dish to throw my keys in also. I really want this area to be simple, functional and impressive. I need a single ceiling fixture in the center of this space.

I need help desperately with the backsplash selection. Right now there is a temporary backsplash of slate tiles. I was hoping this was where I could add a pop of color. I will be adding glass to my upper cabinet doors - or something to them. Need help here. I would like to cover the two outlets to the left and right of my cooktop with some kind of accessory, but I don’t want the area cluttered. If we will be accessorizing the island, here is what I need to be accessible on the island, but still want the island to look great: I do cook a lot for my family. We eat mostly quick meals at this table (hoping to use the dining room more once completed). On top the island, I would need to have: napkins, S&P grinders (im open to different combinations here), a bowl of some sort to serve whole almonds in and one or two other small to medium size serving pieces to serve anything from jelly beans to peanuts. I love the idea of having some kind of oversized, glass containers to keep on my island or somewhere in the kitchen that I could display pretty candies in and change seasonally. These are just some of my thoughts. I’m very open all ideas. Thanks Devin.!

Kitchen
I’m still picking the backsplash for my kitchen cooktop. I have some samples on order. I just ordered two lights for over my 8x5 island. From Lamps Plus item #31N09. I’m pretty happy with my kitchen for now. I would rather focus on my living room. I would like help with accessorizing my island and countertops in the future. My kitchen definitely needs warming up, it feels very cold.

Dining Room

Dining room color is BM Stonington Gray. I have a hard time with this color but really don’t want to change. I like the way yellow looks against it. My dining room set is Baker Street from Macys. It is a 8’x40”. I have six chairs. I want to have two more chairs, one at each end and I want these to be more like comfortable chairs with a nice bold pattern to them. I need a light fixture in the center of this room. I’m having a really hard time visualizing this room complete. I have so much storage in my kitchen and pantry that I’m not sure I'm looking for any more pieces in this room. It’s not a very big space and I don’t want it cluttered.

    Hi Lydia,

What do you think about this option of Roman shades:

    https://www.theshadestore.com/shades/roman-shades/flat-roman-shades/customize?color=cobalt&material=Winding%20Leaves

The price for these would be around $1400 before the discount.

Let me know your thoughts about this selection!

Hello Tijana. Could you tell me what height to hang the birch branch prints on both sides of my media unit? Should the top of the prints line up with the top of the two end towers of the unit? Thanks.
    • Tijana Z.

      Hi Lydia,

Hanging prints aligned to the media unit would look great!

Regarding Roman shades, they come in 3 different lengths, 48", 66" and 88", and in max width of 72".
Usually for outside mount it is recommended to have +3" on each side of the window.
The question would be, are you alright with having 3 rolls for each window with 5"+ in length?
Let me know if you need new suggestion for shades.

      Best,
      Tijana

Hi Tijana. I'm not sure I would like that for the window. If you have another suggestion I'll take a look, or, I can live without for a while and think about it. Either way. Thanks.

          I agree with you.
This is why I was asking for accurate dimensions of the windows, because the height of the windows was missing from the floor plan.

I will source you new options and come back to you shortly!

          Thanks,

Sounds good Tijana. Just two more things: 1. Could you choose some flatware and drinkware for my dining room table. i have very simple white dinnerware. maybe each setting could have a water glass and some other kind of glass. Could you choose coordinating napkins and/or linens and some kind of something for the center of the table? 2. And I still need those 3 sconces that run along my 'hallway' if you can. A question: Do you think I should go any higher up the wall with my kitchen backsplash tile behind the cooktop? Then I think we are all set. Thank you!.

Helllo. I love the white tea pot, affordable option cookware and all the rest. If I go with the affordable, white cookware, should I pick the blue teapot instead? or is the white teapot ok? Thanks.,

        Great!
I would definitely suggest keeping the white tea pot, it is so lovely!

Alright, I'll upload the moodboard with the final selections and update the shopping. We're almost there :)!

Hello again. Tijana, could you please pick a colored (not stainless steel) tea pot that would look good on my cooktop. I already installed the tile you chose. I love it. Also, is there a cookware set you could choose. I like to keep some of my most used cookware on my cooktop all the time, so I would like it to coordinate well. Thank you.

Hello Tijana. No worries at all. It's been busy here with the last few days of school for the kids. I hope your daughter is feeling well. I've reviewed your kitchen selections. I actually like it all with the exception of the napkin holder. Could you choose an alternate? Also, could you pick a large pepper mill that would coordinate well? I like the wall sconce, but my kitchen window is black, is the color of the sconce ok? Thank you! -Lydia

Hello Tijana! Welcome back. I hope you had a nice vacation. I've decided to use the Janousek Console table that you recommended from BirchLane. Remember, I already had this piece! I think I am set with my entry. I have ordered and received everything except the bench I am still waiting on to be delivered. I love the horse painting. There was a small vase set you were going to add to the shopping list. That would be great if you could. The two large baskets you chose will not fit under the Janousek console, but that's ok. I will incorporate them somewhere else in the house. So, the entry is complete! Thank you. I look forward to your kitchen ideas, especially the window treatment for over the kitchen sink and a wallpaper on that same wall/backsplash IF you think necessary. I do need to know what you think I should put in the cabinet doors above the wall ovens and refrigerator. Also, i need three more wall sconces for along the wall that I call my 'hallway'. I'm hoping you can find something to compliment the fireplace wall sconces. Thanks Tijana. I'm very excited to get started again. The house is coming together so nicely. The colors are so well coordinated - I don't know how you do it. Each of the areas definately has a 'feeling' to it. I'm so happy.

        Hi Lydia,

        Thank you!

I had a great time and I'm very happy to be back and continue working on your designs!

-Regarding the console, using Janousek console is a good decision, I really love how it flows with the entry.
-Regarding the vases, sure! I'll need to check if they're available and will add them shortly if they are.
-Regarding the kitchen, it is already in the process, I will incorporate everything from your notes and hope to share proposal with you shortly!
Do you like the idea and style of Roman shades for window treatments, I am considering these options :

    Hi Lydia,

I have updated the shopping list for your entry.

    My apologies for the delay!

Have you had a chance to order the tiles we were considering for the kitchen?
Did you choose any of them?
We can work on the kitchen area while we are looking for a new bench option.

I will be traveling from May 26th, and wont be able to work for around 2 weeks.
Please let me know if you'd like to have everything ready by that time so you don't have to wait on me additionally.
Since we have fully designed the living/dining room and the entry is almost done, there is enough time to prepare the kitchen area too.

    Thank you,

Hello Tijana ! Yes, I already ordered and receive the kitchen tile. I love it. I didn't install it yet. I chose the Amadora Basma. I look forward to your new bench options. That would be great if we could finish the kitchen before you start your travel. Could you please refer back to my original notes to see what's left in the kitchen. I think just the following: Accessory pieces for the center island, a curtain and one wall light for the kitchen sink/window area, also a wallpaper on this sink/window wall maybe to coordinate with the tile (if you think appropriate), some type of something to finish the upper cabinet fronts over the wall ovens and refrigerator, choosing a color to paint the barn sliding door I will be putting on my pantry. I think that is it for the kitchen but I may be forgetting something. There are three wall sconces I need to choose that go in my 'hallway' that runs along the entry, dining room/kitchen area. Perhaps you could help me choose these too. One other slight change: I think I would like to have an alternate for the blue dining room area rug. I love my living room blue rug soooo much. I just feel like having another, different shade of blue rug so nearby might not be great. What do you think of a natural color rug like in the entry? Or something else altogether for the dining room. Lastly, the horse art for the entry: can you just double check that the dimensions are correct on the shopping list. I want to order this soon. It would be a great help if you could help me out with the above before you leave for your travels, but please don't worry if you can't. I can wait until your return if need be. -Lydia

Thank you. I love the way it is turning out. I'm not feeling the benches still. I would love to see maybe two more choices for the bench that you think would work. I love the small orb you put on the console table, but I'm not crazy about the other accessory next to it. Could you choose something else you like. I love the rest of it! And i'm ordering those poufs for the living room now before its too late ! Thanks Tijana.- Lydia

Hello. Ok. Lets put everything on the shopping list except the benches and that round accessory that you may suggest a replacement for. Tomorrow is Mother's Day here in the U.S.A. I probably will not be checking in again until Monday. I don't know if you celebrate where you are, but every day should be Mother's Day, so have a great day! Thanks for everything. Talk to you soon. - Lydia

Hi again. When you can, could you please:
choose an alternative for the two cowhide poufs in the living room. They're not available. Let me know if I ordered the wrong size of those two bluebird art for the dining room. I ordered 30x38 (as on the shopping list) as the size for each. They seem really big for between the two windows. ?? Thanks.

      Hi Lydia,

I was already looking for some alternative options and wasn't able to find something similar in the same colors as the previous one we had on the mood board.
I was checking on Cb2's website to see if they have it again in offer but that wasn't a case.
I've looked for some new options and thought this one could work good with the color palette, as it has beige/brown combination and size fits great.
It will be available for ordering in early June
      https://www.cb2.com/abele-sand-hair-on-hide-pouf/s212606

I will check on the art and get back to you.

      Thanks for letting me know!

      Best,
      Tijana

          Hi Lydia,

They're very nice, I agree with you :)!
I will add them to the shopping list right away.

Also, I checked on art, my apologies I made a mistake in importing wrong dimensions.
I was planing for that area to have 2 pieces with dimensions of 30x24".
I was thinking of options and I have a suggestion. If you don't want to return them, you can place art on each side of the room and it will also look very nice.
If you'd like to return them I will make the changes in the shopping list.
Please let me know your thought about this.

          I apologize for this mistake.

          Thank you,
          Tijana

Hello Tijana. I reviewed the plan for the entry/hallway. I love the wall sconces, large glass vase, two umbrella holders, the baskets under the console table and the rug.

    I'm not sure about:
the horse picture - i love the close up type of picture, I'm just not sure about the black and white look (i think its black and white) or the fact that there is this picture of a horse and then the horse painting over the fireplace - looking for your thoughts on why you chose it for here. Open to your opinion.

The Chandelier - I like the type and style, I just don't like the chris-cross look within the orb.

The Standing Coat Rack - I like the style, but I don't like any scrolls. (again, I grew up in the 70s/80s - I've seen enough scroll work!) :)

The Storage Bench - can you tell me why you chose this and the wall coat rack. I like it, but it seems modern.

The console table -I'm worried about the wood grain again, and is it big enough.

The center floral on the console table - I can easily see myself using branches and twigs in the large glass vase, so I'm worried an artificial item here won't look as good. Is there something else you can put here?

Thanks. I'm looking forward to your thoughts.

I hope you have a very nice Easter holiday with your family. I'm starting to receive a lot of the items I've ordered. It's very exciting. I can't wait for the room to come together. My kids and husband are excited too. They love your renderings. It's interesting how the kids love the functionality of it all. They keep talking about how they're going to use the room. Oh, and they keep telling me how smart you are ! 'How did she do it mom?' - and they're all boys - so you've really impressed them which is not easy to do. Thanks again. -Lydia

Hello. I like all of the kitchen tiles you picked. I will order samples and then choose the best. Thanks for explaining about the rug. Hallway - if you mean the Entry, by the front door, I've given some notes in my initial set up of the account. Could you refer back to those please. The dresser I have in the entry now is a bit too dark I think. I'm open to painting it if you can recommend a color, or I can get rid of it . Up to you. As for what else I would like in the entry, can you refer back to my notes. I was thinking maybe we could have a horse statue of some sort somewhere in the entry? Maybe. Kitchen, before your break could you pick a wallpaper that might coordinate that I could put on the backsplash of the wall with the large sink. I may or may not do this, but I would love if you could pick something. I will order a sample. I will be putting glass in upper cabinets above the refrigerator and wall ovens. Should I do leaded glass? What kind of design? Should I do something other than glass, maybe decorative expanded metal? We can talk about this after your break. I would also like to have you help me accessorize the kitchen. This can wait. I would love to have a wallpaper recommendation from you while I'm ordering the tile samples also though. Thanks Tijana!

Rug Pad. Hi Tijana-if you can add a non-slip rug pad for the 9x12 area rug to my cart I will order from you. Thanks. Lydia.

      Hi Lydia,

I have updated the shopping for the dining room and updated the living room list with 2 rug pads 9'x12', one for the living room and one for the dining room.
I've picked for the dining room area a rug 9'x12' because on each side of the table should be around 25" of carpet when chairs are in use and pulled out.

Regarding the hall, are you keeping the existing furniture there?

What do you think of these options for the kitchen tile :

      Option 1:

This one is my suggestion, considering the overall room design, but if you want something neutral maybe option 3 would work better.
      https://tilebar.com/amadora-basma-white-8x8-porcelain-tile.html

      Option 2:

      Option 3 :
      https://tilebar.com/cascais-silver-ornate-9x9-matte-porcelain-tile.html

Let me know what you think about them!

I should mention that I will be traveling on the April 25th and wont be able to work for a week as I am visiting family during the Orthodox Easter :).
I hope to send until Sunday solutions for both hall and kitchen, and I think we have a chance to be all set up until then.

Question: Hello. I'm still not sure about the two Cortina sofas. I looked at a sofa set locally yesterday. The grand sofa is 6" longer than the one you chose, and the apartment sofa is 5" longer. Do you think the room would support those extra inches? Thanks Tijana.
    • Tijana Z.

      Hi Lydia,

I was working with official dimensions for grand sofa, which is 102" and 78 " for apartment sofa.
We always consider few inches up/down, and since your room has plenty of space it wont affect it .

Please let me know if you have any other doubts.

      Thank you.

Ok. Don't worry about the sofas for now. I will wait and see if there are more reviews. Yes, please add the dining room items to the shopping list as long as you are aware that the windows are black and you think the navy curtains will work. Hello Tijana. I've ordered most of the items, big and small, for the living room. I keep hesitating to purchase the sofas. They seem to be a new item and do not have any reviews. Actually, they just got one, but it's not very helpful. I ordered and received a swatch of the Winward Sand color. I love the color. It goes so nicely with the light and dark shades in the curtains. I'm concerned because it seems a little soft and almost like it will pull easily. I wondered if you had any alternates in mind. I will continue to search also and let you know if I find anything I think might work. Not easy to find a 102" sofa, which I know we need. Thanks Tijana. Looking forward to your thoughts. -Lydia

    Hi Lydia,

I've made a quick revision to the dining room and tried some of the new options.
Dark blue/navy solid, linen curtains with borders in velvet to offset the existing light blue/gray wall.

Dining Room: Tijana - I always love all of your ideas, but I'm not 'feeling' the dining room. I do like the chandelier. The rug, chairs and curtains I do not like. I'm not a fan of off-whites or creams. I'm okay with the style of the chair, but not the color. This Stonington Gray is a very light blue with a touch of gray. I think I really need to contrast it all. Could you try again? There is a picture in my Inspiration folder on Houzz called "Lake Minnetonka New Construction" . I like two bold, floral end chairs. I like the color. What do you think of something like these? Then take it from there? Should we not do too much blue in this room? My kitchen, which is close, is also Stonington Grey. Blues, yellows and bright greens look good in the kitchen. Just some thoughts. Thanks Tijana. Please do what you think is best.

Swivel chair question: I would like to order these two chairs soon. My question is: as they are on the list right now, you have picked Darius, Navy. On the other swivel chairs we had previous you chose Galaxy, Sky. Could you tell me why you picked the dark navy. Will it be too close to black? Do you think this shade will be better to go with the rug (i already purchased the 9x12 rug). I like the galaxy sky, but really want to know your thoughts here. Thank you!

      Hi Lydia,

I wanted to reach out to you about this.
The chairs in shopping list are in Darius Navy and they are available in early May .
Galaxy sky fabric for these chairs would have to be custom made and an estimated delivery/shipping would take 7-9 weeks.
Are you alright with this period?
Generally I am more attracted to the Galaxy sky as it is a bit lighter option, and I think would connect better to the rug.

If you agree on this, I will make changes today.
I look forward to hearing back from you.

    Hi Lydia,

I hope you're having nice weekend.

Thank you so much for understanding, I am back on track and ready to share the initial dining room board with you, please find it attached below.

So far, I have picked the rug, curtains, dining chairs, chandelier and the art pieces I found beautiful for this area.

My idea is to confirm these pieces before adding the flatware and drinkware, as I think this way we will coordinate better the overall design.

I have some general notes regarding the pieces selected with the item links pasted below.

    1.Chairs,
    Neutral, patterned and sophisticated!
I've run through many options before deciding to share with you these. What I loved and think would work with your current dining set is the basic shape of the chair which is very similar to your current chairs + armrests.
The height of the chair armrest is around 25", and matches good with your dining room table with a height of 30" .
In this room I was playing once more with patterns, but they are subtle and they don’t compete with each other.
    https://www.houzz.com/product/134094574-madison-park-angelica-arm-dining-chair-set-of-2-with-tan-finish-mp108-0767-transitional-dining-chairs

    2.Rug
Love the soft pattern on this rug, it is very neutral and I think would marry nicely the different scaled patterns we have in the curtain and armchair.
The rug itself isn't too thick which is good for the dining areas.
    https://www.allmodern.com/rugs/pdp/watson-ivory-area-rug-chlh5941.html?piid=19231468

    3.Curtains
What do you think about them?
I love swirling pattern, they would look very nice when hanged and tied like on the living room renderings.

    https://www.westelm.com/products/cotton-canvas-scribble-lattice-curtains-set-of-2-rosette-t4978/?pkey=cwindow-panels-curtains-shades&isx=0.0

    4.Chandelier

I've picked an orb style for the chandelier, as we were discussing to have two matching for both the entry and dining area.
Its size is 24" which would be enough since this room isn't too big, It is a very nice piece and stylistically would tie with the chandelier option in the living room area.
    https://www.jossandmain.com/lighting/pdp/joon-6-light-globe-chandelier-wlao3289.html

    5.Art
A bit more natural addition to our design, I absolutely love these prints. So nice and soft.
    https://www.ballarddesigns.com/sea-heron-art/decor-more/wall-art/all-art/481812?listIndex=79

I look forward to hearing back from you.
I hope you're going to like this proposal, and I am very excited to move forward with the design.

Ps.I forgot to mention, I will be submitting the final living room shopping list most likely in the next few hours, I am almost done with it.

    Thank you.

4/9 Change-Hi Tijana. I want to switch back to the "Tillie" chair from Crate and Barrel that you first suggested. Was it "Galaxy, Sky" for fabric and color? Could you add back to my shopping list. I think this is a better fit than the change I made you made. You do not have to update the 3d rendering if you already did the second one. You can leave the other blue accent chairs on there. Thanks. Sorry about that. My husband likes the "Tillie" much more.

      Hi Lydia,

Revised renderings with Tillie chair, side tables and fans are uploaded.
Please let me know if you are satisfied with them, and I will finish the shopping list so you can start placing orders.

      Re.dining room colors,
I think that having beige, brown combination would be a very good match for this room, probably with two armchairs with interesting patterns.

I'll get back to you shortly.
My apologies on slowdown, I've been short on working hours in past two days as my daughter is having a bad flue.

Hello. I am ok with the two round side tables and fans. Thanks for explaining the fan/chandelier spacing information and why you like the round side tables. I don't have a color preference for the two dining room chairs. My only concern with using blue would be that the dining room is close to my kitchen island where there are blue island chairs. You can see in the original pictures I sent. I don't want there to be a clash, and, is that too many blues now? The dining room is BM Stonington Grey, which reads like a very light blue/grey. I've noticed yellow pops very nicely against it. I'm really looking forward to your ideas here. I'm sure you will come up with something nice. I do want to make sure they are comfortable and the right height for the table. Thanks Tijana. I look forward to the new rendering. -Lydia

    Hi Lydia,

I am working on living room area and if you are alright with side table and ceiling fan I would do a rendering revision and send you back.

As for ceiling fan/chandelier organisation, the things are like this, standards for distance between ceiling fan blades edges and chandelier should be around 39".
I've had to check on floor plan before I get back to you and with fans of 58" and chandelier we have picked, there is around 42" between them, so we meet standards and there should be now problem when installed.

    Reg.side tables
I loved how interesting the top of table is, its like a little design piece for it self, lovely, isnt it.
It will go nice with our motives we have in other patterns.

    Reg.Dining room
I am currently working on it. I've addressed about two comfy armchairs and will implement it , and curtains also.
As for chair, do you have any particular color you'd like to see?
Would you be open for having blue patterned chairs, to connect better with living area.?

    Thank you,
    Tijana

Dining Room Note: Tijana, just wanted to make sure you know that I will be adding two more dining room chairs to my set. I will put the six they came with along each long end, but I want two, more comfortable arm chairs - one at each end. Maybe with a bold pattern? I'm having trouble with even picturing what would work. Also, I think curtains would be nice. Thank you!!

    Hello Tijana!
    1. Yes, I like the side table you choose. Lets go with two of those if you think it works.

    3. Console table - lets leave just the one, as is, for now. I love it.

    4. TV Console - thank you. Please include a framed American Flag somewhere on the console if you can. That would be nice.

    6. Fans. I really like the 58" Interceptor fan!

One new question: the round side tables you chose for next to the accent chairs are very different than I would have looked at. I like them a lot. Can you tell me why you feel they fit in the space and what it 'does' to the space. Thank you!

    Hi Lydia,

Please find below the answers to your previous questions:

    1. Regarding the side table

Yes. Initially there was a side table, but since we didnt discuss it, I thought we're not going to implement it.

Let me know if you like this option:
    https://www.wayfair.com/furniture/pdp/bungalow-rose-jayvion-wooden-end-table-w000554326.html

    2.Dining room
I can make a proposal for the dining room drinkware and flatware, no problem at all.

    3.Console table behind sofa
Since the one we have is slim, it could go behind the large sof .
Would you like to replace it there or add another for this area?

    4. Accessorizing the tv console

I will make suggestions for positions and send them over for you to look at in the proposal. A combination of books, frames and some decorative objects would enhance the look of it.

5.Side table by chair on the right
Sure, are you alright with having the same side table as the one by the swivel chair by the window?

    6. How do you like these fans

3D update. Hello. I was thinking if we do one 3D update it should probably be to add the ceiling fans and that table near the chair to the right of the fireplace if you can. I think that would give me all the visual detail I need to move forward. The rest is good to go!

Question - could we fit a small table near the 'new' chair we added to the right of the media unit? I was thinking maybe this small table could have some kind of one person game on it or something fun. Just a thought.

Question - could you offer a few suggestions for items on the tv console? Maybe the kids / family pictures could be tastefully displayed here? Even just any thoughts would help.

Question - just curious, would a console table behind the longest sofa in the living room every be appropriate? Maybe not enough room behind? Curious. Thank you.

Dining Room - Hello. I wanted to mention that I did ask if you could 'set' my dining room table with all acessorries, etc. that would be great. I wanted to mention that I do have a very basic set of white dinnerware - plates, bowls, etc. If you could help me with flatware and drinkware for every day use, that would really help! Thanks.

Question: Hello. Didn't you choose a small table that goes with the club chair to the right of the table? I didn't see it on the 3d. You don't need to add it there, but can you be sure it is on the shopping list. Thank you.!

5th Question - Hello again. I love the way you have the curtain panels hung on the windows. I never would have thought of that. I can't wait to do it. At a certain time in the afternoon, I do take this panels and pull them across the windows to block the light. I don't mind doing it this way, and I can still do this with your way of hanging the panels. My question is: I would like to get away without doing blinds on my windows wherever I can. What are your thoughts on blinds in addition to curtains? Are they always optional? Is it purely for functionality, i.e. block the sunlight, privacy, etc. I'm curious. Thanks! -Lydia

These 3Ds look amazing. I love the way everything came together. Wow. Looks like you put a lot of thought into it all. I think we worked really good together along the way, so I don't really have any changes to the 3D, just four questions.
    1. The media unit is not very tall but that wall is very tall. I always read to try and 'draw the eye up' when you can. Also, there is no bridge across the two towers. Could explain to me why this is all okay for you. Will the scale look correct? I believe that wall is 10'. Just curious.
    2. I will be adding two ceiling fans. One on each of the rafters near the center ceiling chandelier. Any tips on how low/high to hang the fans and chandelier from their own rafters? Also, I'm assuming to get 60" fans? Can you help me there too. Do you think black fan blades or wood color to match floors?
    3. The vases that you chose on the sofa table - I love them. I was surprised to see they will 'fit' with the room. Could you explain the thoughts behind the design / style of these vases.
    4. I know this is probably just a guess for you, but: do you think if I put floor plugs in underneath each end table that even if I designed the room a little different in the future, they would still be covered by some piece of furniture? I'm thinking its likely.

Thank you again for your efforts. I'm really happy with this space.

      Hi Lydia,

I am so happy that you liked how the design turned out.
I must admit that I am also very satisfied with the results!

      Below are my answers:

      1.I agree with you!
It is always tricky when working with high ceilings and open space layouts, and every step in the design must be well thought out so everything looks good at the end and to scale.

To achieve that particular look, we would have to cover the entire wall with shelving, and that would make the room look like a library which was not what we are aiming for.

I dont find it bad the unit has no bridge, and when looking also at the rendering I dont have that feeling like something is missing there, but that it will make also a great accent with art on both sides.

2.I will make a proposal for ceiling fans separately with technical info regarding style, and hanging height.

Since you are happy with the design, I would suggest if you agree, to do a revision with ceiling fans added, so you can see how they will look like in the combination with the chandelier.

      3.Vases - I loved them too!
When I first saw them as an option, they gave me sort of a Chinese traditional pottery flair, all though our design is miles away from any eastern influence, I love picking items that would give a room sort of different accents and in the end it always looks glamorous!

      4. I am pretty sure they wouldnt stand out much.

I will also answer here regarding curtains, so it would be number 5 answer bellow.

5.Blind additions to curtains are in my opinion optional, if there is a need for it, I dont think they would affect the design in a negative way and I always put functionality first.

Maybe some layering curtain options could help a bit, going with two rails and having one blackout and sheer curtain combination?

Let me know what you think about it.

Please if you have any other questions, dont hesitate to ask.
Im working on new updates and will reach out to you shortly.

      Have a nice weekend Lydia,

03/27-Tijana, here are the original notes from my dining room:Dining Room

Dining room color is BM Stonington Gray. I have a hard time with this color but really don’t want to change. I like the way yellow looks against it. My dining room set is Baker Street from Macys. It is a 8’x40”. I have six chairs. I want to have two more chairs, one at each end and I want these to be more like comfortable chairs with a nice bold pattern to them. I need a light fixture in the center of this room. I’m having a really hard time visualizing this room complete. I have so much storage in my kitchen and pantry that I’m not sure I'm looking for any more pieces in this room. It’s not a very big space and I don’t want it cluttered, but again, I am open. NEW NOTES 3/27 - Tijana, i need help with curtains this room also. Should I do the same as my living room but different color? Art work on walls? Should the table be turned the other way? This room is tough for me. Cant picture it done for some reason. Perhaps a rug to anchor it all? Thanks!
HALLWAY - as far as my 'open hallway', I think I just need your help with the 3 sconces that go along it. 2 frame the entry and there is one more to the left of my pantry door. Also, I need help choosing the sliding, outside mounted door for my pantry. Stained finished or should I paint? The hallway color is BM Dove White.
    Thanks. Hope this helps.

    Hi Lydia!

Greetings from Europe! I hope this week is treating you well :)!

I have some updates to share with you.
I've made picks for the ottoman decor + art + chair.
Find them attached bellow with comments regarding the items.

    -Ottoman tray

I loved this one, it is very neutral/natural and will tie well with sofa/pillows fabric. Also it is large enough to put a nice decor set on it.

    https://www.ballarddesigns.com/woven-ottoman-tray/381490?listIndex=1

    -Tray decor ;

I've picked a vase with very similar motives as we have on rug/pillows, blue candles, and blue/clear bubble glass votives, I would make a combination of blue and clear glass one by another .
I am copy/pasting the links bellow and I am excited regarding every item here. They're just what we need and I hope you like them.
    https://www.potterybarn.com/products/lilian-printed-vase/?pkey=cdecor-art&isx=0.0

    https://www.potterybarn.com/products/bubble-glass-votive-candle-holder/?pkey=cdecor-art&isx=0.0

    -Art-

I must admit I was a bit indecisive about art before I found these.
It's birch art on white background, like the horse painting is.
This is fantastic as it will follow the type of painting we already have, and ties nicely with nature surroundings.
It is available in many sizes. I would suggest to go with two 46"x20", and place one on each side .

    https://www.ballarddesigns.com/fresh-birch-art/decor-more/wall-art/all-art/399342?listIndex=22

    -Chair -

I've checked the plan and there is a room to place the chair with a possibility of adding a small drink table.
What do you think of having this type of chair by the media unit?

    https://www.houzz.com/product/63270796-mid-century-fabric-and-wood-arm-chair-beige-midcentury-armchairs-and-accent-chairs

I look forward to hearing your comment regarding these updates and I hope you're going to like them!

    Have a nice day,

    Thank you,

Good morning from the U.S. Tijana. Thanks for the wood grain explanation. It helps a lot. I really like everything you have updated. Will you be adding more accessories to this room when you do the 3D plan or is it only everything on the mood board. I know we talked about maybe a picture or something to the right of the media unit, a tray on the ottoman, etc. Let me know if these you add when doing the final 3d. Thanks Tijana. Everything looks really great.

      Hi Lydia,

      Warm greetings from Europe! :)

Thanks you, I am very glad to hear you're happy with the updates!

When I mentioned a mood board update, I wanted to sum up and include in the moodboard what we have by now.
I would suggest one more set of updates with accessorizes and a mood board update right after that, and then proceed to the 3D.

As for the rest of the design, we will be able to complete quicker, as you already have furnishings for dining room, kitchen cabinets, etc.
I have already made some picks for the backsplash tiles, but I will send these with the updates regarding that part of the project.

Please let me know if you have any other concerns.

      Kind regards,

3/20-Question: Wood furniture matching. I had a general question on coordinating wood furniture. In general I do not like any wood grain furniture. I grew up in the 1970s and 1980s - a time when EVERYTHING was wood paneling with lots of graining and lots and lots of knotty pine ! Oak kitchen cabinets were also very popular. These things always looked so busy to me. Almost like they were their own pattern. Anyway, I like what you have picked for me, but I am curious. Why does the tv media unit coordinate with my wood flooring (which for some strange reason doesn't bother me even though it's oak) and also the side tables? What are the rules for coordinating the woods. Is it by grain, color? You mentioned you liked the grey of the media unit, but why does that work with the browns in the floor? Again, just curious, you don't have to write too much. And again, I'm not looking to change anything of your selections. Thanks Tijana.

      Hi Lydia,

I am sending you tbe updated mood board with picks we have by now for the living room, with additional arrangements of the console table behind the sofa.

I am very happy with what we have by now and I am looking forward to hearing your thoughts regarding the updates.

Please note that I've made you fabric and wood schemes so you can have better feel of how materials tie together.

To answer your previous question, I was aware that you are not fond of wood grain and in terms of that I have selected a very small amount of grain visible in our wood textures.

If you look the scheme with wood materials, you will see that the samples are very close in color tones contained, and that is exactly what makes them tie nicely and doesn't look overwhelming or too dominant.
If we had different wood tones it would be much harder to coordinate them and we would risk how the space would look like in the end.

I look forward to hearing back from you!

If you are happy with what we have by now, we could soon proceed to 3D's and you'll be able to see how the final design would look like!

      Thank you,
      Tijana

    Hi Lydia,

I hope you're enjoying your week so far!

I've been making some picks for the console table and lamps.
I am sharing with you some of my favorite selections so far, as I think these might work nicely with the design.

    Consoles :

    -This one is my favorite!
Unique piece, extra long, slim, and would look amazing behind the sofa. Love it.
    https://www.ballarddesigns.com/ananda-console-table/furniture/living-room/console-tables/13922?listIndex=3

-This one is very similar to the side table design we picked already, and also could be a nice match as it would look as it is part of the tables set.
    https://www.ballarddesigns.com/braden-3-drawer-console-table/furniture/living-room/console-tables/387306?listIndex=12&defattrib=Finish&defattribvalue=DTN

    Table lamps :

-These are beautiful, soft, neutral and the glass looks so nice.
    https://www.lampsplus.com/products/janna-mercury-glass-gourd-table-lamp-set-of-2__17p75.html

    -One more pick from PB.
I loved circular form, we have it throughout the whole room and generally I think the glass would make a nice match with the airy feel your room already has.

    https://www.potterybarn.com/products/estelle-stacked-glass-lamp/?pkey=ctable-desk-lamps&isx=0.0

Let me know what you think of these picks!
I think we should update the mood board if you like any of these options, and see the look we have by now.

3/16-Chandelier Question. Hello. I just wanted to make sure of the sizing for the large chandelier. The one you chose is 48" diameter. Are you looking at my room plan to get this sizing. Do you need more measurements from me? I see some of these lights that are 60", how can I be sure that the 48" is right for the space. Also, you can see I need three fixtures on the ceiling. I planned on doing chandelier in middle and a fan on each side of it. Ceiling fans with no light fixture attached. I think I don't need more than one ceiling light and that the fans would be very functional. Do you agree with that layout? I was thinking of keeping the ceiling fans very basic, but need to know color of blades as well as over size needed. Thanks again Tijana.

      Hi Lydia,

I wish you a nice start of week!

Yes, there are many ways to calculate the sizing of chandelier needed according to room measurements.
One of the ways is, if you have have a room sizing of 23' width and 24'6" in length then it is most likely that you will need a chandelier that has a diameter which would be the total of these two numbers together. This would be around 47 inches in diameter.
Generally any chandelier with diameter over 40" would be enough for your room, our pick is with diameter of 48" and fits perfectly.
It is 24 light chandelier, and the max power per bulb is 24 60-Watt which would provide us enough lighting.

I got my PC back, and I will continue now working on the project. My apologies on the short delays.
I will get back to you shortly, with new updates!

      Thank you,
      TIjana

Hello Tijana. I have two questions after studying our plan some more. they are general questions to help me understand . Just two: Why did you introduce leather into the room with the cocktail ottomans? What makes you want these to be leather rather than a fabric. I like them, I'm just curious. What does leather 'do' to a room. Also, the hide poufs. They are very close in color to my floor and a neutral tone. What made you choose these over a color that would be bold and contrast more? Again, I like these choices and do not want to change, but I am curious how you came to these, as I never thought of these as viable options until I saw them with everything together. Thanks. (PS, i'm not looking for you to explain everything, i know a lot goes into this - if you could just give me some basics like you did with explaining the pattern mixing) . Thank you ! -Lydia

      Hi Lydia,

I hope you're enjoying your Sunday!

This is a great question! When I was making the material scheme for your project I was very much inspired by your houzz idea books, and looking at these interiors a few key things were defined instantly: bold fabrics and layered neutral tones, with rustic flair and navy accents.

I wanted to make the space a bit sophisticated, which is for sure achievable with fabrics too, but leather gives exactly that touch I was looking for.

I always try to bring story into my interiors, and your home has a very natural feel and I want to expose it as much as I can.

Symbolically, usage of leather has important place in our history, both through clothing and our homes. We have used it since forever and when combined with modern design it is a very nice meeting of new and old, and this was exactly the look I was going for!

We could always use leather as an accent, if we pick it for sofas instead, it would be too much and the space might look a bit "plastic" or looking like gentleman's club interior :)

Also, leather is a durable material, and if I speak of function it was much safer for me to pick leather for cocktail ottomans as this is the place where things can be spilled and leather is very easy or maintenance, and does not collect dust as fabrics.
You would not have to worry if something happened to them- as it's easy to clean.

As for the hide poufs and rug, it is such a nice match when we are looking to the color, its very rich , vivid, and ties very nice with the colors we have in painting, which also inspired me when I was making picks since they are sharing the same corner.

I hope this helps, let me know what you think of it!
I will answer the chandelier question in separate comment.

      Thank you,
      Tijana

Hello Tijana. Yes, I am happy with the pillows but if you have others I will look at those too. Thank you so much for explaining patterns to me. It really helps a lot. I am sending some pictures over to you of my hung curtains. I do love them, and I hope you agree they will work. They kind of just disappear in the room. They are very muted. They are very functional to me, as they have a light-blocking backing and the room gets direct sun around 3-5:00pm, so I just swing them together. I am waiting for some tie-backs that I ordered and actually ordered one more panel for each side just because when pulled closed they don't cover the window 100%. I think the tie-backs will make them look much better, they are kind of just all uneven looking now. I'm trying to get away with no blinds on these windows, just the curtains, Thanks again. Look forward to hearing from you again. -Lydia

HI Tijana. Let's leave the Chandelier, Fireplace and Chessboard/Ottomans the way you had them. I like your ideas of coordinating the chandelier with the other rooms. Hello again. I have a couple of questions I wanted to ask. I finally hung the curtains in my living room. They are the ones I spoke about in my first notes on the living room. I got them from JC Penney. They have a light lattice pattern through them, but overall they are a brown color. I love them. They warmed the room up so much. My question is, how do you coordinate patterns? Since my curtains do have a pattern (a muted pattern) and the rug you chose and the throw pillows you chose also have patterns, what is the rule? I love when I see mixing patterns. I read once that you can mix patterns as long as they are different sized patterns. Im curious, what makes this work. Specifically in my living room. Thanks.

      Hi Lydia,

Are you able to upload photos with how the space looks with curtains added? It would be great help for me, so that I know how to coordinate a color palette in general.

As for patterns, there are no strict rules here, since sometimes it takes courage to step a bit out of the box, right.

Some general things to follow would be:

-color palette, to keep palette within 3-4 colors and eventually play with their different hues in order to create a nice, coordinated space and avoid overwhelmed space with lots of color+patterns

-scale, you are right! Usually we should care to have different scale patterns, also in 3-4 visually similar dimensions, like, not having two large dominant pattern because they would visually fight one another, but instead having one larger pattern in combination with similar but smaller size.

-third rule would be to follow basic geometry of pattern, like if we have circles on pillows in our design we have repeated it also in other picks,by having round poufs, organic shape in rug, round chandelier etc.. lattice would also match nicely because it is related with its form .
I love to chose one shape and work with it.
I am not sure if you know the work of Kelly Wearstler. She is very skilled in mixing patterns, and the final results are incredible.

I hope this helps, I think we are good with our patterns by now. Are you satisfied with the pillows picks?
I have a few more to share with you and I will send them soon with the next set of updates.

      Thank you,

Hello Tijana. I really like the accessories you have chosen. I have a few comments:

Side Tables: I like the lamps from uttermost more than the lamps plus. But I do think I would prefer a neutral tones.

Chandeliers: I love that chandelier and have seen it before. This is a huge decision for me. Can you give me one more that might work. Would a large orb fit the space?

Fireplace: I love all of your ideas and picks for the fireplace. Just one question; can i keep my horse statue on the right side with everything else you chose? You said one vase on each side so would my statue have to go?

Chess Board on Cocktail Ottoman; I love the chess board you chose. The ottoman is leather, this is marble. Does the board go right on the ottoman? Can we 'warm' it all up a bit? You may be thinking of this already.

Thank you so much again. I think this is a great start with accessories. Im really excited. Thank you also for explaining your choices and decisions - it helps me a lot.

Looking forward to your next set of ideas.

      Hi Lydia,

      Greetings from Europe!

I have red your review and please find my answers bellow:

      Re. Lamps
I understand that you would like to have a more neutral look, and not overload with blues. I will make picks in neutral tones and get back to you.
One more important thing re.lamps on side tables is if you have electricity near.

      Re.Chandelier
We can try with the orb too, I was thinking of having an orb type of chandelier in the hallway and dining room, and one large like the one I've sent you previously as a centerpiece in the room.
But, I agree, lets be sure and make the right decision!

      Re.Fireplace
We can achieve symmetry by having two smaller size vases on the left, and keep the horse statue on the right, with candle-holder in the middle of the mantel as a balance point.
An other option would be to add one more sculptural objects on the left.

      Re.Chess board
What do you think about having a chess board on one ottoman and a tray with vases or flowers on the other?
I would use glass here also to connect with the fireplace picks. This is why I have picked a set of glass vases so that we can use it also at this area.

Once we make the final picks on the living room area I suggest updating the mood board.

Let me know what you think about these!

I will make sure to come back to you shortly with new updates.
Also I will answer your question regarding patterns in a separate comment.

I am very glad for being able to help you throughout your house interior design and I am look forward to continue the great work!

      Kind regards,
      Tijana

    Hi Lydia!

I hope you're having a nice start of the week!

I have been making some new picks regarding what is left to be added in our living room design.
I am sending you some links bellow to review, and if you love any of these products I will work on the moodboard update and get back to you.

    -Side table lamps :
    https://www.uttermost.com/Hagano-Table-Lamp-26191-1/?SelectedSKU=26191-1

    https://www.lampsplus.com/products/crew-navy-blue-night-light-table-lamps-set-of-2__62v79.html

I would go with blue accents for the lamps as it would match the coloring perfectly! If you would like to see the lamps with neutral shades, please let me know and I will make some picks for you!

    -Chandelier :

    https://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/The-Gray-Barn-Liam-Oil-Rubbed-Bronze-24-light-Chandelier/8876712/product.html

Nice piece and it is rustic. Looking at the dimensions it is large and this is just what we need since your room has a high sloped ceiling. I think this one would match perfectly! Also it has excellent customer reviews.

    -Fireplace

Your fireplace has already a lot of going on. As I look at it I really love how the horse painting matches with the outdoor view. I can't tell much but looking at the windows I see that the house is surrounded by nature and the theme of painting really matches the atmosphere.
Since around the fireplace there are already three large windows, a lot of outdoor is "translated" into indoors, and we want to make sure to connect these two points nicely. I like how the natural materials that we already have match.
To get back on the fireplace, looking at the mantel, I would not add a lot of decorative items since we don't want to block the view of the painting.
I was thinking of making a combination with a candle holder in the middle and flowers or sort of greenery on both sides near the sconces but in vases that are transparent so we can keep a nice view of painting, and add accessories at the heart of the fireplace with lanterns and fireplace tools.

    Products for mantel:

    Candleholder:

    Vases:

    Heart of fireplace :

    Fireplace tool set :

    Lanterns :

    https://www.wayfair.com/decor-pillows/pdp/williston-forge-2-piece-metalglass-lantern-set-wlsg1864.html

    Coctail ottoman:

Decorative chess board (color : fossil and red ), as you wished. I love this one made of marble and I think it would be a great addition!
Let me know what you think of it.
    https://www.wayfair.com/furniture/pdp/chess-set-rsz1052.html?piid=27440818

That would be all for now, I will look forward to hearing your comments regarding these picks, and I will be back shortly with new updates.

    Thank you,
    Tijana

Hello Tijana. Always nice to hear from you after getting through a crazy morning and getting all the kids off to school! I like all your ideas below. The layout, sofa table, positioning, etc. Yes, I do like lanterns. I was thinking buying the tool set for the fireplace would be easy for me, but maybe you could help choosing that too, as I want to make sure I get the size right. One last space in the Living Room I am looking at is the space to the right of the Media Unit. I think there is a bit more wall there? Should we add something? (now that I'm thinking, maybe you are already thinking of this). Anyway, I think we are in a good place. Thank you Tijana.

      Hi Lydia,

That is so nice that we are going in the correct direction. I love how design is developing!
And you were right about the space right of media unit, I was also thinking of it and feel like there is a room to put something there. My initial idea was to have two chairs on both sides of media unit, one by the window and one near the standard sofa, so that we have a full and nice circle for seating, entertaining. But once more, I would have to check on plan.

I am very happy that you liked the ideas provided previously and will send you the new updates as soon as possible.

Are you ready for the shopping list with the items we have picked by now? The list is editable and we can change it until the end of the project, but this way you can have a better insight of the overall budget and see the prices with discounts until you're ready to start placing orders.

      Thank you,
      Tijana

    Hello Lydia,

    Greetings from Europe!

I am sending you the first mood board update with the furniture we have selected yesterday.
I've updated the side tables selection, swivel chairs and rug. Also you can see at the mood board that the floor plan is updated with the correct furniture pieces and according to their dimensions.

In one of your previous questions you've asked me how far are the sofas positioned from the pillars. Here is my answer to that question: the standard sofa is around 20 inches from the pillar line and hall, the grand sofa is positioned 50 inches from the pillars near the kitchen island and general line of where the doors by the kitchen are positioned.
As standards advise that passage should be around 4 feet so that two people can comfortably walk one by another, I would advise to put the sofa table behind the standard sofa.
Since standard sofa's back is turned to the entrance area, this would make entering to the living room a bit more inviting and warm when we look to the living room from the hall.
I will be waiting on your comment regarding this.

How do you feel regarding the layout?
In my opinion space is very well used and optimized and it will look marvelous when we add decor.

Are you fond of lanterns? I was thinking to add floor lanterns by the fireplace. They would make a great addition to design and we will achieve nice symmetry with fireplace tools on the right.

I look forward to hearing from you.

    Have a nice day Lydia!

    Thank you,
    Tijana

    Hi Lydia,

I am sending you alternative products for swivel chairs, side tables and rugs. I will paste the links of the products bellow. Please let me know if you like any of these items.
Swivel chairs are all available for custom fabrics production. Since we are looking for navy colored chairs as accents by fireplace they can be a good option.

    Swilvel chairs:

    https://www.potterybarn.com/products/chase-tufted-rug-indigo/?pkey=carea-rugs&isx=0.0

Let me know your thoughts on the furniture selected, I would suggest to pick products this way, then update mood board with the final furniture selections and then make selections on the accessories for the fireplace, the ottoman decor, lamps for the side tables etc, and make an update of the mood board once more.

I should also mention, that for the rug I chose to add some more interest by using pattern. As this can be a focus point in your living room it can really have a nice visual effect.

I am looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

    Have a nice day,
    Best,

Hello Tajina. I will review this today and get back to you with any changes/comments Price range looks ok overall. Thanks. Also, are you able to see my Houzz "inspiration" folder. In my previous note to you (starts with "i'm glad we will be working together also"), I talked about some of my concerns and some possible alternates from this mood board. I still feel the same. I have some concern about the comfortability of the swivel chairs and was looking for a different type of rug (maybe) and side tables. I guess I will review your spreadsheet and then give you my final thoughts on any changes. If I do want to do a phone call, what is your availability for this coming week EST. Thanks, Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

      Hi Lydia,

I hope this week started well for you !

Thank you for comment, I will looking forward to hear further thoughts on the list I've shared with you.
I confirm that I can access the Houzz idea book you've created and I'll have it as a reference to your preferred style.

Today I am going to make new picks for rug, side tables and chairs and come back to you with alternate products.

Regarding phone call, I am 6 hours ahead from your time zone and around 4-5pm I usually go for my little one to pick her up from kindergarten and am available since my husband has shift that is not really hourly fixed to get on call any time after 9-10 pm by my time when she sleeps, I am available any time between 4 and 7pm in your time zone.
Let me know if this works for you.

I will back to you with new picks soon!
I wish you a wonderful day!

      Thank you,

    Hi Lydia,

Thank you for re sending me all the messages with answers because definitely something went wrong, and there is still only blank space in your first comment, its good we looked into this and didn't wait longer!

I will make you a document with all the products I've used for now and share that with you, so you have all links to products in one place.

Looking at budget limits you've set for me bellow, I think that with current state we exceeded it a bit, its not a rule but usually when clients dont mark their budget limits, they are flexible about it, but lets look again at all products and make a decision on which products you'd like me to suggest alternative pieces that also go with lower prices!

I would start with the living room, this room also requires 3D renderings which is a process that requires a bit more time to be completed because I model the process from scratch. So I can working on the models while working on other parts of house too.

I will reach to you today again with links to every product so you can review, from Monday we can set our working schedule and start with revisions:)

Let me know if that works for you!

    Thank you,

Hi Tijana. This was my reply that you should have received. I replied right to the email. My answers were in red for easy reading. My answers are in this cut and paste -just not in red. -Lydia

I would love to ask you a few more questions before we move forward.
    - What is your timeline for project ? I don’t have a set timeline, I’m more concerned with getting it right. Anna said you would be available for 30 days? I’m hoping we can finish before then.
    - Is there any budget frame I should keep in mind while making picks; I am hoping for under $10k for the entire project. Maybe $7-$9. I am willing to spend a bit on the sofas, chairs, ottomans and lighting. This is an idea, it’s hard for me to figure exactly. Overall, I would like to stay under $10k with spending the most where you see fit.
    - Would you like me to share with you links to all products to see them before we start making changes? Yes. That would be great.
-Are you alright with completing rooms one by one, I will make sure that everything ties nicely and be part of the same design story; Yes.
-Are you alright with setting up a project frame, like: Yes. And, I don’t have limited time (see comments above). I will make sure I respond to you asap so we can both stay engaged and fresh.
    a. initial mood board,
    b. then through comment sections share concerns, ideas and links to possible changes,
    c. after that doing mood board revision,
    d. and finally move to 3D visualization for the living room.
-If you have limited time for the project it would be also good to set an even more specific timeline: for example, 10 days for the living space, 5 for kitchen (numbers are just for example). I am proposing this in case that you have certain time when you want to have everything done.

That would be all for now regarding your questions.
Regarding chairs, I always advice to place functionality and comfort on the first place, in this case, I think swivel chairs would be the right match. Why? Because you could easily turn to the window if you want to enjoy the view, or relax, and to the seating area if there is conversational circle. Let me know what you think about it. Thank you. If there is such a thing as a reclining swivel chair that looks good maybe we could try? Looking forward to your ideas.

I should mention that I work from European time zone, sorry if there is delay in commenting, I tend to communicate with clients as soon as possible. Also, designers comments needs to be checked before posted. Thanks for letting me know. So I will wait for your next message, maybe with some links so I can review and finalize specifics to get us on our way to an updated mood board and eventually the 3D for the living room. Thanks again. - Lydia

The sofas are from the new Crate and Barrel collection and they still don't have reviews, but I would believe in their seating quality and this one looks like a great piece of furniture.
Fabric shown on the mood board is Winward Snow, but there is a variety of fabrics to choose. If we choose one of many offered I would definitely recommend ordering swatches.

Hi Tijana. I'm glad we will be working together also. I'm looking at your 'revision1' plan, with the blue area rug. Here's what i'm thinking: Its a really good start. I would like the side tables to be more substantial. Perhaps square and with at least one drawer. I do like the style and look of the two couches. I hope they will have good ratings for comfortability when I see them on the shopping list. I do want to stick with blue as an accent color in this room. I like the two accent swivel chars being blue, and I do like a barrel chair, but I would like another suggestion for these chairs because it looks like if you were to curl up on one the pillows would keep you too far foward to be able to use any part of the 'arm rest' part of the chair. I love the cow hide look rug, especially the rich browns that are in it. That color will look good in my living room - a paler shade would not. I like the poufs a lot also, but am relying on your expertise to color coordinate to the cow accent rug. I think the mirror on that wall near the door is a nice touch, but I do not want any mirrors in the room. Any other suggestions? I'm ok with less is more if the wall should stay blank. I like that you gave me 2 swivel chairs. I can see my husband and i using them to enjoy the fire without being on top of the fire or without the chairs blocking the view of the fireplace. I think that's a great idea. While I like the tv/media unit, I would love if you could recommend a paint color should I ever not be overly happy with this piece and its coloring. It will be a large piece in the room. I really don't like anything with wood grain in it. My floor is wood grain and, to me, any other wood grain is just a clash, so I try to go with more solid colors on wood furniture pieces. A reminder my walls in the living room are BM Manchester Tan and the trim is BM White Dove. Perhaps I would paint this unit the same color as the dresser (if i'm keeping it) in my Entry. It is always possible that I would like a tv/media unit from the factory as-is. Im open. I like the cocktail ottoman. I'm ok with leather as long as you can accessorize it with something that would soften it up. I would like a tray of some sort on it and was even thinking maybe a large chess board. Maybe a floral or something on the tray, again to soften it up. Lookin forward to your ideas here. It's really important for me to be able to have alternatives for the couches and swivel chairs if they do not appear comfortable or have good ratings online, so I'm really hoping you can help me here. I like the idea of blue for the area rug, or at least some blue. There is a certain type of rug I will send you a picture of and I would like to see what you think of it. It's kind of a thinner material than a heavy area rug. Can you please accessorize my fireplace? I am keeping the painting, two sconces and the horse statue (unless you think the horse statue is way out of scale). I DO NOT want my mantle to be busy, but i think it's missing something on the left side. The hearth also needs some help. I will have a fireplace tool set on the right side. What can you do with the left side? The wall that defines my Entry, opposite the fireplace if you look on my plan, has a sconce on each side of it. I need help choosing these fixtures. They are blank now, covered by blue plastic covers you should see in my pictures. Something to coordinate with my fireplace sconces? I think they need to be smaller though. Can I have lamps on my two side tables? Also, I would love an accessorized sofa table behind the long sofa if you think fit. Also, could you please tell me exactly where you are starting the sofa (or sofa table) in relation to the two columns closest to my center island. I will need to now how close or far from those columns you are 'starting' the living room. I don't mind spending a little extra money on the pillows in the room. I really want them to pop and have a nice feel. Would putting two more puffs or small ottomans of some sort in front of the cocktail ottoman (close to the tv) be too much? I have three outlets in my beams near the ceiling. I will be putting two ceiling fans up, one on each end. Can you help me choose a large fixture for the center. I don't mind spending a bit extra here. What do you think of an Orb style chandelier? If you can access my Houzz "Inspirations" folder, look at the rug with the picture where i said, "one of my favorites, not sure if the light colored sofas..." That's the type of area rug I like. Also the picture where i wrote, "love the blue" with the two blue ottomans. I like this rug too. Looks thin and not real plush or too think. I'll let you tell me if stripes work or not. For my Dining Room I need a chandelier for over the table, curtains and are you able to choose some dinnerware and accessories also? I guess that is all I would be looking for in my dining room. My Kitchen needs a tile backsplash behind the cooktop, glass in the very upper cabinets in the cooktop wall, and the island needs to be accessorized, but I would like to get you a seperate note on what my every day needs are for the island first. On my sink wall I need one lighting fixture over the sink and was thinking maybe wallpapering that wall to make it pop and tie it all together. Your thoughts? I also need another wall sconce close to my pantry-maybe it matches the two near the entry. My Entry needs a center, ceiling light fixture and I have that dresser in there that I would like to keep and probably paint. The entry is also BM Manchester Tan. My front door is black on the interior. I will leave the Entry up to you other than that! Oh, my kitchen is BM Stonington Gray. I always thought yellow and bright greens pop really good against it, but i'm open. Also, my pantry needs a sliding barn door on the outside. I consider this part of my kitchen. I'm really excited to have you help me make my new house a home. I hope I've given you a good start here to work with. Thank you Tijana. - Lydia

I just wanted to mention that my Houzz 'Inspirations' folder is more representative of my 'likes' than the Decorilla rooms that I selected when setting up my profile. Some of those Decorilla rooms, although beautiful, seem a bit cold to me. Hope that helps. Thanks. - Lydia

    Hi,

    Welcome to Decorilla!
I am very happy to make a proposal for your house interior design project. The space itself looks very nice and I can't wait to start working on it!
I will take some time to carefully read and address your brief and come back with questions if I have any doubts.
Meanwhile, please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns and I will be happy to answer them.

    All the best,
    Tijana

    Hi,

Thank you for choosing Decorilla. Your home is really beautiful and I am so exited to work on a proposal for you. I love the existing finishes: floors, stone, colors etc and I am sure we will create design you will adore.
I red your brief and understood your wishes and needs, so I don't have any questions for you at the moment. However I will reach out if anything comes up. It would be of great help if you could share some inspirational pictures or links, to be able to better understand your style. Is there any color/fabric/finish you would prefer or deslike?

    Kind regards,

    Dragana

      Hello Dragana,

Thanks for the comments. I’m excited to see your ideas. Devin helped me set up some kind of a link for him where he could access my houzz account where I have an “inspiration” folder. Actually I think I just shared a couple folders with him from my houzz. Does that help you? Can you access those. Thanks,
      Lydia

        Hi Lydia,

That would be great help. But I can't seem to find it. Could you share that houzz link here?

        Thank you,

        Dragana

Hi Dragana. I'm trying to figure this out now. To answer your previous question: I do not like leather, its too cold to me. After talking with Devin at Decorilla a bit, he made me realize that I do like the "layered neutrals" look if that helps you. I do have 4 children so while I want my house to look beautiful, my main seating has to be comfortable and some type of material that can withstand our daily lives. I do like tufted, but sometimes wonder if this is too trendy? I really want my house to be as timeless as possible. I would love the majority of the big items to be timeless and then be able to update the accessories with the seasons, the years or just with my mood if that makes sense. I always say i like straight lines and I really dislike anything 'scrolly' or too ornate. Again, always open to professional advice - and im open to change. Hope this helps. Thank you.- Lydia

Living Room:

Since your room gets plenty of sunlight your color options are quite broad.

For your main color, we chose to use white/off-white as it offers a fresh, clean, feel to the space. White and off-white colors are often a favorite for walls because they are light, neutral, and match most color schemes. They are known to make rooms feel more airy and spacious.

Use an eggshell finish paint which has a very light touch of shine (similar texture to an eggshell as implied by its name). This finish is very often used for walls and is more durable and easier to clean than matte finish

Dining Room:

Using lighter colors in your medium-sized room will make it feel more airy and bright

For your main color, we chose to use gray because it is neutral and seen as elegant and classy. It compliments many colors such as white, blue, and yellow and works well as part of a color scheme in any room.

Use an eggshell finish paint which has a very light touch of shine (similar texture to an eggshell as implied by its name). This finish is very often used for walls and is more durable and easier to clean than matte finish
